Aye , my opinion is that any of the names mentioned aren’t an upgrade on Grix anyway, however I’m happy be proved wrong.

This weeks RL press says SG will be involved in choosing his successor.

On thread.

If he does a good job it’s because Grix has gone and if he doesn’t it’s because he’s brought him in.

It does make me chuckle as the guy on the coach was furious that ‘ he only signs his mates ‘ seems he’ll be doing the same thing has his successor.

Plenty of incentives for SG whilst he is still here which with the cup final and playoffs all in the mix at the same time will be a test of him and all the lads.

As a alternative to the failure viewpoint either way it all turns out for his first time as head coach his record could be worse.

Up to now the facts are.

In 2019/20 season badly affected by covid Fax still reached the semi final of the Challenge Cup followed by 2 third place finishes, the highest of any part time team only behind teams like Toronto, Toulouse, Leigh and Fev who had many full timers and much bigger budgets, twice nominated for coach of the year and so far this year the first Wembley appearance in decades.

In the future.
He will be appointed as a SL assistant to one of the most experienced and respected coaches in the game.

This coach already knows what SG is capable of and doesn’t need to wait and see before judging him.

Even if Grix never gets to become a SL head coach it doesn’t automatically mean he’s failed, there’s only 12 jobs available with a good number of well qualified experienced candidates for the clubs to choose from here and overseas, he might not even get the chance regardless of his ability.

Just hope we get the right man who plays the right brand of attacking rugby.

I have no problem with Simon giving his opinion to the board on who should be the next coach everyone is entitled to one. I would hope that the board do have a good idea who they want and it would be good if anybody as heard any names on who might be interested in the job. What i would question was the interview by Richard Durgan regarding recruitment for next year. He did say that we have done a fair bit of business early this year which is fair enough but there was still gaps in the squad to fill which they ideally want the new coaches thoughts on but also Simons. This is not a dig at Simon but for me it should be entirely the new coaches call on the rest of recruitment for next year.

Regarding the new coach it was mentioned that they would continue with the ‘dna’ of the club since the rebrand, so expansive rugby, obviously no young person wants to watch five kicks and a drive which it is laughable why some people have mentioned John kear . If it is Luke Robinson I wonder if he would balance/blend the Ian Watson process rugby with the expansive rugby, if so I would see that has progress.

Absolutely, the new coach you would have thought should not only be involved in any other incomings but have the final say.

What’s done is done and down to a lot of players contracts being sorted in the spring time but for any new coach getting “his” team in place is always one of the first priorities.

That’s basically what’s been said with some input from SG regarding the new coach.

Just me thinking now about the logic of it but seems to me that it leans towards a younger less experienced person as someone like John Kear everyone knows his cv and how he coaches.

I get the “way we play dna bit” for a younger guy and from the start all being on the same page but would it be the best of starts for an established reputable coach to know he only gets the job if the outgoing guy approves it?

Just have to wait and see on this one.

Please have an open interview process for the next coach then you dont replicate past mistakes . Hopefully obtain a coach who possesses good communication skills which grix lacks .

Take away the cup games and this season has been very poor and that is saying it mildly. The concensus of the majority on here and on Facebook seem to be of the opinion that we are overachieving so all is well then. SG has done well the last two seasons but has taken us backwards this year. His move to Hull is the best outcome all round and let's hope he leads his home town team to victory at Wembley and if that is the case his legacy at Fax will forever be cemented. Up The Fax!

Take away the good bits from anybody and you’d only be left with the poor bits or take away the success and your only left with failure!

Claims of overachieving and all is well?

Not at all it’s just in a competitive comp rather than expecting to win the majority of games the majority of supporters realise that it’s so close to call between clubs you can easily lose them as well.

Wether it’s the best outcome will only be known after we see how well the the new coach performs.

It will be interesting to see if it’s someone who the Grix out brigade approve of if they subject him to the same sort of treatment as given out to SG.

I don't get that SG has been subject to any bad treatment, just opinions. As for the new coach I think Luke Robinson or Liam Finn will both be excellent coaches but something inside me says let's have a break from appointing Halifax lads or ex Fax players and make a clean break. Who that could be though I don't really know.

Well Hudds on bad treatment.

On this very forum over a sustained period of time there has been multiple posts, comments and claims containing a combination of twisting the facts or with an exaggerated bias against him with the sole purpose of tearing him down and I will prove it if you like.

Speaking for myself it’s not like thinking SG can water or can do no wrong and I’m neutral on if he goes or stays, it’s the misinformation and misrepresentation that is completely wrong, if the Grix outers believe in their stance then at least support it with facts.

On the new coach whoever it is, as a part time club who are behind several of our rivals in terms of finances and crowd base what would you regard as success?
