Went to see David in hospital last week. He had to go in because of a urinary problem. He's getting a bit better each time I see him, although as he said himself its going to be a really long and hard journey. Currently he's in White Windows whilst his home is being upgraded to made life bearable. . a lift to get up stairs and help to get in the bath etc

Took him a dvd of recent games and the Club has given him a free season ticket, so hopefully we'll see him down at a few home games this season.

All in all he's bearing up but such a young guy shouldn't be in the position he's in through no fault of his own.

Mum and Dad too are taking quite a strain as you can imagine.

I check in now and again on this thread to see how the lad is doing. Really hit home reading the article about Dave in which he explains his injuries and problems since the assault in detail. Words fail me for the kind of person/people that did this and similar things to other people. Carry on Dave in the way you have during your recovery. The courage you're showing makes you a thousand times the man more than those cowards that inflicted this on you. Keep at it kidda.

Hello All, Is everyone ok with me unsticky'ing this thread. I have been happy to leave it but I think we need to move on. People can still seek updates of Dave by Bookmarking or Subscribing to this topic. What does everyone think?

Seems a good logic. No posts on this thread since early July.

People won't forget about Dave just because this topic isn't here

I made a point of having a good natter with Dave today and told him you guys had been enquiring and asked if it was okay I gave a bit of an update.

As you will appreciate it's a delicate subject, difficult to get the right balance without stiring the wrong emotions.
Anything said is in the attempt to be truthfull with no malice or ill will.

With that being said as always with Dave he was chuffed to bits about your thoughts, support etc received from day one and on going permanently.

Hard to believe 3 years have gone by since that tragic night.

Since then Dave as shown immense courage and determination with the help of the varoius medical staff from the NHS, his mum and dad, close family freinds and all of you guys.

Daves mum and dad have also been amazing through all of this bearing in mind that they are both in their 70's.
From the beginning to and from Warrington, then to Leeds LGI and finally Pinderfields etc never missing a day and if you meet them always a pleasant response.

Every bit has helped along the way, as of today Dave has almost certainly recoverd as much as he will do and it's the positives of which there are many which can be focussed on.

Allthough not being able to walk he is active and gets out and about in his wheel chair frequently.

He is an avid follower of Fax and Town and you will see him sat with his parents in the new stand disabled concourse area on most home games, by all means give him a thumbs up.

Faculties are well and truly up and running so no problems in having a chat or a few words if you get the chance.

At the moment he is still between care home and home, home and it will likely stay that way for the moment.

Basically he is getting on with his life, other than that he just does what he enjoys doing like the rest of us and not much more to say.

If anything significant developes I will get to know about and pass it on.
