I remember Sheffield starting last season in an horrendous fashion, they even lost against Donny! But by the end Mark Aston and his Sheffield team were hailed as the best thing since sliced bread. Now they've started this season slow again ..... "they can't even beat Keighley" ... and all of a sudden they're naff again! Oh the joy of being a sports fan eh?

Sheffield's season was built on competing in every game for every minute. As we know they did well enough to earn bonus points on many occasions and finished well up in the league standings. When we lose, the bonus point isn't so much of an issue ! Attitude and desire get you the bonus point.

sheffield didnt win anything either... good or bad starts.. Widnes and barrow did, both had coaching issues they tried to resolve to some degree, while O'Connor and Des went about it differently, they acted, they knew things needed freshening up. Mark Aston does a great job with his resources, a good honest side. I think we need to be concerned with how do we freshen things up, perhaps the Bods should take the wags to the new shopping centre in Warrington or take the guys the Pleasure Beach. looks very likely to me thats the only days out on the horizon. It appears old buddy Matt is gonna be around for a while, unfortunately.

one good thing about Aizue is that when he takes contact going forward he is immediately looking to play the ball quickly.

He did this against Widnes and created havok.

The rest of our forwards need to avoid being 'turtled' and keep the emphasis on playing the ball quickly, with quick ball we are one of the better teams in the Champ!

Have we got past the point where Calland can turn things around? My gut feel is "yes" but if we lose the next two games, there can be no doubt.

Cant believe you lot moaning.You have lost two games, against two teams on fire.Every team has blips.Calland got you to a grand final last year, and will do the same again.You have players injured and soon fev and leigh will have injuries.Better to have now, than when the important time of season.Stick by calland.

Sorry old bean your way off the mark, we have lost 4 this season, are out of one comp, have played poor in every game, and played poorly apart from the Play off semi against Fev last year for most of the back end of last season, ever since Toulouse to be precise. We cant defend, we have no structure, no discipline, no freshness, an aging pack and if were not careful crowds will start to dwindle and we will become mediocre.
I watched every game last season, most the season before, missed only Sheffield in the NRC this year, theres a lot of fans on here that are not negative, but are at the end of their tether with giving up time and money in pursuit of watching some good rugby league. We've seen good times and bad times, through thick and thin, seen us lift trophies, relegated, gone bust, reborn, been through it all, we know when things need freshening up, on the playing/coaching side. were very stale, short of ideas, and while we thank the board for everything they have done and support them in the future, a lot of people feel Matt has taken the club as far as he can, he's learning his trade, but unfortunately were not a finishing school for aspiring coaches, we aim to be a competitive club and win things. Good luck to Leigh, Fev, Sheff, Widnes and Barrow, were more concerned with what were doing, and the product on match days might be entertaing for neutrals, its currently very visibly poor. Its becoming an expensive time consuming chore and not entertaining in the least, dam frustrating.

Ok 4 still not the end of the world.You have played well in some games, and did not look too bad against widnes, and was it batley on sky?Thought you played some good rugby.I thought you where all happy with some of the older players, like gene and aizue. At the start of the season you all thought you would win the league?

Its the manner of the 3 last losses amongst other things. And the signs were there last year and nothing has really been done to change the problems.

I have nothing personal against MC, I have never met the guy but I'm sure he gives 100% but something surely is lacking in his coaching skills. Almost since day one I have never felt his appointment was `right' A bit like JV at the footy club - it was just never meant to be! The way some MC supporters are saying give him time or the rest of the season to come good is almost beyond understanding. I am sure if you look at all the first class games MC has coached we have consistently leaked 25/30+ points per match, so what is happening now is nothing new. He has never in his time managed to sort out the teams from a defence point of view. Great attacking play but v poor at the other end. OK the team got to the GF and it was a great day out for all concerned. I suspect that a factor in the demise of MC is that other championships clubs (in comparison to us) made dramatic improvements in terms of playing resource, tactics etc in the last couple of seasons. This has contributed now to a very close and exciting league. For Halifax and the rest the gap has narrowed considerably making the coaches role even more difficult and demanding (probably the pivotal difference between winning and losing?)
I sense this is why his limitations are becoming more apparent and obvious. To say what is happening now is a blip is highly delusional. Also take with a pinch of salt contributors from other clubs who post messages who say stick with Calland!

how about you actually get behind your team and support them instead of slagging them off all the time, theyve lost 3 games, GROW UP
calland isnt goin anywhere so get that into your thick heads and have faith in your team !!!
you lot whinge about paying a tenner to watch the game, think about the directors and sponsors who put alot more in!
