Quote: pinballwizzard "At the game, that second half was an awful game.

Laughton's one man show reigned supreme again.

I dont know why you guys are bagging fax? We had to do a lot of defending in the second half down the 12 point slope. Penalties get given when you are doing that much defending. Laughton must be a good ref, he got ref of the year. He just clashes with our players. No, I doubt we help ourselves. But the inconsistencies out there were just ludicrous at times.'"

Well said.....

Can anyone ever ever remember Laughton even having a half decent game...... eusa_naughty.gif

Quote: The Lucky Black Cat "Laughton gets worse and is a joke. Instead of letting the game flow he blows his whistle for every little mistake and just turns the game in to a scrappy affair. Neither side were dirty and neither side deserved to have the penalty count so high against them. I hope he chokes one day on his whistle as I have never seen any game on TV or Live that I have enjoyed with him as Ref!

Fax- Disgraceful to be honest. We arrogantly thought we had won and just gave up.We had players not putting in tackles like Beswick. We had players giving away silly penalties- Rob was one with not playing the ball, Wrench giving a facial right in front of the ref and Penky getting involved when no need. Maloney apart I was disappointed with the forwards. We should have hammered the forwards in that second half but they got on a roll and got a couple of tries as a result. Should Black have played? as he did not look 100%. I had hoped Bowman would have played today and for me should have done whether from the Bench or from the off.

If we go out next week with the performance and attitude we played with tonight we will get beaten by a few. Batley were missing a number of players as well. Lets do the basics in attack. Lets sort the discipline out and work hard in defence, especially close to the line.'"

Were they? I think not.

Pretty poor from both teams in patches but decent in other patches. The Ref was poor for both sides but wasn't helped by the 2 dummies running the line either..

agree.
but for a ref to give a try then go to video on say so of defending player did look bit bad, nearly as bad as the touch judges did with the goal.

Bad? I'd say so. I didn't know he could do that. I must admit Rocket Ronnie had a terrible match. Batley know how to play that horrendous slope and they were really slowing the play the ball down in the first half. Ronnie kept penalising them at first, but didn't warn them, and even gave up penalising them in the end even when they continued to do it. He lost control towards the end, it was obvious, he was so inconsistently bad he was getting the bad bird from both sets of fans and was losing his bottle.

Anyway, to go to Batley and grind out a win is a great result, no matter what the performance. It's gonna be a graveyard for many this season, glad that one's out of the way.

Disgraceful was maybe the wrong word but poor is not. We lost control of the game and some of the mistakes was schoolboy errors. The Ref did not help but pushing players over twice, incorrect play the balls and poor tackling are our errors and ones that we are famous for. We was lucky Batley played even worse than we did and next week we cant afford to drift in and out of games or let poor discipline creep in to our game.

I was questioning the fact batley had players missing.

I think you're getting a little over excited, pussy cat, there's no way that match was as poor as you're making out. There some bluddy hard hitting stuff went on tonight, I think you should calm down and have a mug of horlicks.

Come on it is Laughton, no one can honestly say they're suprised with his display tonight. He makes the games his own, and when they're on sky, well it's his time to shine isn't it.

The day we get a decent display off Laughton; well I'll have to come back to you on that... icon_ask.gif

Question for those who watched this on Sky:-

Were we offside so much in that second half especially on our own line (3 or 4 times)?
Did the player who hit the ground before their 3rd and possibly 4th try not have both elbows down?
Did Batley never impede in the last 20 minutes as we did not get one penalty in that period?
Was it our discipline or that toilet called Laughton that deprived us of the ball the last 30 minutes???
Did Wrenchy really hit that guy high when the linesman came on?

Not had chance to watch it back yet, but did Worrincy make a tackle on their number 5 when he was in the air?

Quote: Fax4Life "Question for those who watched this on Sky

Having just watched replay:

1. Well this is it, doesnt every team have at least 1 or 2 off the line every time? Certainly weren't obviously offside. And to do us so much was harsh to say the least

2. 3rd try was ok 4th was a load of toss. The commentators didn't make much of a big deal about it saying the man 'wasn't controlled' but at the end of the day a Batley player hit the deck with a Halifax player on him, if that was slowed down in Super League it wouldn't have been given.

3. Last 24 mins actually and no penatlys to us. Batley were whiter than white and never moved of the mark, had a player offside, held on to long or anything EVER....i'll let you decide if im being sarky icon_wink.gif

4. Six of one half a dozen of the other, again, technically we should have been penalised for this and that. However where were our relieving penaltiess in the last 25mins. Halifax did very well in theory at stages in defence.

5. He put his hand in Batley players face. He did do it, but again, Batley never did it? I think not. And btw, his tackle that actually finally got us a sin-binned player was the softest of the lot. He was unlucky it was him

Worrincy was a bit of a tart for playing on, not sure why he thought he wasn't held. Also when their player had nasty fall he did nothing...which perhaps lead to the incident because he didn't even jump oddly enough..also regarding that incident, that Batley player fell VERY awkwardly and it look very bad and something could easily gone wrong with his neck so can whichever tosspot Halifax fans who keeping chanting 10,9,8.. you're out etc, bloody stop it! eusa_naughty.gif

Penky being ran out of play was also good defence to be fair.

Overall thought we did ok basically against a good Batley team at their place. 1 out of 6 points from these 2 games last year remember...

Quote: littlerich "Disgraceful refereeing. We get penalised (rightly) for Worrincy playing on after being tackled. Batley do the same and play is allowed to go on and a try is scored. Massive penalty count against Fax.

Laughton - you're a [imale chicken[/i.

Granted - Fax have gone off the boil but they're playing against the ref here. eusa_clap.gif
