@ Malfax, moot point, but I do not think you can appoint a permanent replacement, when the present incumbent is on 'gardening leave', technically still employed by the club, but not at work, and cannot seek other employment.
The point I was trying to make was the board were quite rightly having a big announcement, but because everyone knew days before as sky told all and sundry at the Bash.
Therefore they should have either just confirmed it in a press release, or as Chris Smith writes, the BoD made themselves look foolish and ill prepared with their reveals.
