| Quote ="The Phantom Horseman"Are Halifax in a position to outbid York?'" Hard to believe we are in a position that would merit that even being a question...but in truth who knows the Yorks fans are funding that signing in the way ours are Tangata.

| Our inept coach yet again blindly oblivious to where we are struggling.... White should be nowhere near the first team IMO.

Spot on. The club is carrying far too much baggage as it is so it makes no sense to add to it.

| As a neutral it's interesting to contrast this thread with the gushing tributes to Marshall in today's League Weekly after the London game.
The opening paragraph in the match write-up by Ross Heppenstall reads;
"Richard Marshall is one of the brightest young coaches outside of Super League and it is surely only a matter of time before he is plying his trade at a higher level.
This victory confirmed the excellent job that Marshall is performing with the part-timers, who have been a force in every season of his reign."
It continues in much the same vein about Marshall's achievements for two or three paragraphs before he even starts to discuss the game. Certainly makes an interesting contrast with some of the views on this board.

| I think some journos don’t follow the championship that closely so can be found wanting in up to the minute knowledge.
For example Dane Chisholm was in the RLW Championship team of the month earlier this season. I think he got picked on the strength of him being someone they’d heard of.

Yes that's a fair point, and I think Heppenstall covers soccer and RU as well as RL. That said, Marshall does seem to be a bit of a media darling and there was a similar piece in League Express last year after a big Fax win though that was by Matt Shaw who is a Fax fan (though I think he's a very good RL journalist).
From a neutral point of view I think you could genuinely argue either way as to whether Marshall is over-achieving or under-achieving.

Yep one game is hardly enough to base an objective opinion on.
And this raises another topic that has been mentioned before.
Namely information, or lack of coming from the club.
We never really know what is going on, are we doing okay, are we struggling, are we somewhere in between?
We too are often left with just a little bit of knowledge so as far as we know with the cards he is holding RM could be doing a great job, blundering along or anywhere in between depending on who you listen too.

Yet Halifax in no rush to offer him a new contract when his runs out in the matter of a few short months. You would think it would be high on the agenda unless they see the things that other people on this board have seen.
