Pitch would have passed an inspection.
I think Fax should go out of their way to arrange another home friendly even if its just to have a look at some of the under players.

Im baffled by the people criticising the Giants statement, given that our statement shows plenty frustration at the situation too. If anything it seemed to me like the Giants were supporting Faxs position againgst the council.

It's the condescending attitude of the statement. It's all about the giants. We've lost out far more than they have, programme printing for e.g. They weren't even sending a decent team over so shouldn't be moaning about that. If they were so concerned about the postponement where's the offer to play the match at their ground? Hang on....they're tenants like us aren't they? Stuff 'em!

What Tim Swift has said on Twitter has suggested that the groundsman had some say in the game been called off and I think he should have a say in debating the condition of the pitch. What we have though is a vested interest with a groundsman who is well known to be a big town fan. Maybe it is time to bring in a neutral where an impartial decision can be made.

I don't know what the state of the pitch was like this morning but considering the rainfall we've had over the last few months and the fact that it was a friendly......one for the credit bank and I'm sure that a more hard headed approach would be taken if it were a league match.
Now GFB makes an important point here, if we're dealing with a groundsman who's got a big fat chip on his shoulder he needs to be taken out of the equation. |

That is why a lot of us have a nagging doubt this decision was made in the best interests of the ground staff and Halifax Town and not Halifax RLFC who they seem to have it in for.
They should remember that BOTH clubs contribute to the upkeep of the stadium and one pays more than the other = Fax! |

Tim Swift sent me a message to say that the game was called off by the groundsman and the stadium manager and he was going to ask them to make a statement as to why .( I don`t think Coun Swift knew the groundsman had already made a statement on social media the night before taking a swipe at the Giants )
Now I have no problem with the groundsman being consulted re` the state of the pitch myself it`s right and proper and if he thinks it should be cancelled fair enough . But the pitch was playable for a rugby match and I have seen us play on far worse .So if the game was cancelled to safeguard it for soccer as it would have made a mess of the pitch ...then why not say so ? Plus the opinion of a RFL referee and a member of our club should have been brought into the debate as it doesn`t sound right that he should be the one to say that the game gets called off. There doesn`t seem a solution to this as we will be faced with this again unfortunatly as they just cannot seem to have a pitch that is fit for purpose and they can`t blame us we havn`t set foot on it yet.
The wider debate about this episode to me is as to whether the council is really serious about making the Shay a community stadium we`ll have to see. |

Totally the correct decision and these pectures were taken before saturday evenings 4 hour deluge.Anyone questioning the professionalism of the groudsmen Ozzy/Handsey really hasn't a clue..
