Blummin freezing at Batley but it is that time of year! 1st 40 mins was pretty impressive by Fax playing up hill. Brown's kicking game was superb with a quality 40/20 , dinks to the corners instead of straght down the full backs throat, and some great up and unders to the wings. He will save Fax's forward a lot of graft over the season. Ambler was quality with drives and also two sublime off loads. Defence was spot on. Created a few chances out wide but fluffed. Work in progress but that is what these games are about.
Nice touch by Fax fans when Blacky was coming off the pitch in front of us to applaud him.
Nice to be back watching the Fax on a Sunday.

Great to see some rugby again, it was a hard fought game for a Friendly we shaded the first half they took the second. It became an arm wrestle and we did not use the ball well second half, good kicking game in first half but lost our way a bit but its a friendly and that's what they are for. Good turn out by the Fax fans.

Ben will always be well regarded by most of us supporters and I think it's great that we acknowledge all our ex players.
At Leigh last year one or two of our travelling imbeciles kept shouting "reject" at Ostick, not necessary.
Back to the game, I must admit I thought it was pretty dire, the second half particularly. however there was plenty of promise as Living has said above. A typical Batley, Fax, pitch, weather game.
Chips were excellent, only fault? the lady asked small portion or large. how insulting, do I look like a person who eats a small portion of chips? Nearly burst my speedos.

Just one further point, Danny Cowling, when you make a break and run so wide that you have squeezed out your winger (no name on his shirt) so that he is nearly in touch, don't throw a pass which is a yard in front of him, goes straight to into touch and then shout at him showing your obvious displeasure, take responsibility, you did it twice which can't be good for the man with no names confidence.

Winger should have come inside. I thought both players ended up looking bad for it. Obvious poor play by the winger and not sure what Cowling was doing with the pass.
