Well, you make complete sense and your proposal looks ridiculously sensible - for the RFL to use central funding to ensure that all clubs have an internal "feeder" (aka a reserve team). This would make the reserve league meaningful and with a full fixture list each season.

Yep, we used DR, it's like being pregnant, you either are or you aren't, you can't be a bit pregnant.

I do hope though that we are never pregnant again.

My point being yes we did DR with Hull KR last season but we hardly used it unlike teams like Fev who last year had up to 4 Wakey players at one time playing and this year likewise with Leeds players.
I am gald we have not gone down that road as whilst it looks like paying of for you this year possibly I would not be happy if it was us tbh

Subject to the other provisions of this Operational Rule, once a Player has played for any
Club in any Competition (other than the Reserve Team Programme of Matches) after the
end of the Super League or Championship Regular Season (or after Round 1 of the League
1 Super 8s and League 1 Shield), whether that be the Club with whom he is registered, the
Club he is Dual Registered to or the Club to which he is on Loan, he shall only be able to
play for that Club for the remainder of the Season and shall not be entitled to play for any
other Club in any Competition (other than the Reserve Team Programme of Matches).

The above provision shall not apply to Dual Registered Players who have played 8 or more
Matches for their Dual Registered Club before: (i) in the case of Championship Clubs, the
end of the Regular Season; and (ii) in the case of League 1 Clubs, the completion of Round
1 of the League 1 Super 8s or League 1 Shield, who shall be entitled to continue to play
for the Club to which they are registered and the Club to which they are Dual Registered
after the above date.

So how many Leeds players have played 8 games for Fev?

Only Baldwinson, and in practice there's very little chance of him being selected for Leeds in the middle 8s as he wasn't making their squad even when their pack was decimated with injuries. He's pretty much been a Fev player in everything but name this year. Dunno if Leeds would let him play for us if we made the middle 8s but I doubt he's going to play for them again either way.

There are two or three others who would be eligible for Fev or Leeds having played 3+ games for Fev but it's doubtful Leeds would release those guys for the middle 8s if we made it as they wouldn't be eligible to play for Leeds if they had another injury crisis.

I cant even blame Fev for using dual reg, money is obviously tight for them and if you can get some players that are capable of performing better than Championship players and for free then you cant really blame them. Its not Fev that are broke its the system.

Its sad but I think the best we can now hope for is Fev to beat Bradford which should level down Bradford again next season and gives Fev the chance to get their finances sorted while hopefully not improving their squad too much. If its the other way around I fear for both us and Fev as I expect Leigh, Bradford, and london all to be better next season.

Think DR is on borrowed time.There's a growing outcry at lack of super league reserve sides from respected sources Lee Briers for example.Also it can't be lost on clubs with reserve sides,that the 4 clubs that have one,Saints,Wigan,Wire and Hull make up the top 4 english clubs in s/l.

In any head to head, what about having the DR players from the clubs involved play one half for the parent club and one half for the other.

HA to hell with it lets not stop there just pull alternate club coloured balls out of a hat and split both teams half and half for the full game, fits in with the other pantomime RFL backed ideas.

Probably won't happen unless the Aussies do it first.
