P&R cannot return if Championship clubs aren't funded adequately. Nor can relegated clubs take the shock of the cash loss.

No - everyone's just reeling from his Machievellian last minute strop - designed to cause maximum disruption just prior to the World Cup. The game of Rugby League can just line up behind his own selfish Wigan agenda whilst everyone seemingly and strangely dances to his tune. I'm sure they'll look after their feeder club though

Certainly not Wigan that's for sure!!!! You may be OK with your club getting into bed with them but their influence in the game should not exceed the level it just has.

Lenaghan sounds like a self centred nasty piece of work.Him and Mcmanus (he's the one who said bradford must be kept in sl at all costs when they were in t street the first time) are like lindsey and caisley all over again.

I do understand Wigans concerns and agree with some of them. The problem I have is the way they have done it. Surely after all these months and contact they could have said something in private if not in public about some of the concerns? I dont rate Nigel Wood or his mate Rimmer and they certainly have stuffed up. But thing is we have no leadership from the RFL or the Clubs and nobody seems to trust anybody which is a recipe to disaster

Ive thought for quite a while now that the rfl cant govern because sle ltd wont let them.When ever they come up with new policies its sle ltd who say yes go ahead or no forget it and as we know from lenaghan recent behaviour they only say yes when it suit sle ltd and not the game as a whole.

I would'nt mind if the clubs in sle ltd were super dooper but most of them are not and thats one reason why what lenaghan has done is wrong

The mere fact that he went to London as an administrator & not just a sell your soul washed up Aussie player on a cracking salary suggests he knows eff all about the game's traditions and values. Even with the 30 years of RFL handouts they've failed miserably in the smoke or Maidstone or Cystal Palace or Fulham or whever they've tried robbing the RL hierachy of their money to make RL a success.
Get back into your Wigan borough council run cave & do as your big brothers tell you to do like signing players with the promise of two days a week training with Wigan as part of the deal. Just you hope none of your new signings start playing well & Wigan don't get too many injuries or they'll be taking your stars off you to turn out for them. Your pies will never be as good as the pies' pies either.

Waited a few days to comment but I'm still not to sure about this . On the one hand I applaud Mr Steele for having the guts to speak out and express his opinions. On the other didn't he lambast the RFL over the whole franchise thing a couple of years ago ? I also don't agree with this convoluted 12 then 8 split league that is so heavily weighted in super league favour . I actually agree with the Wigan chairman with a straight one up one down promotion and relegation . I just wonder with the advent of BT that the next tv rights deal might be more favourable to rl and hopefully championship rugby could be included in the next agreement. Super league is the third most popular sport on Sky and I think they would be loathed to lose it so there are opportunities there. One of my main gripes about the RFL is their addiction to 'gimmicks - club call , the no cash Stobart deal , top 8 play-offs etc etc. I just wonder would Halifax as a club be speaking out so much if they were in super league . I doubt it but what do I know !
