| Calland got it spot on in his interview "we came with the wrong attitude".
A combination of us taking Hunslet too lightly and thinking it would be a bit of a stroll after last week and them coming to the home on the Champions, wanting to do us over on TV made for a very poor first half for us, not helped by being dragged into their spoiling tactics.
The referee didn't help though, he allowed Hunslet to constantly spoil but also just had a general shocker. White's knock on in the first minute was the most obvious you'll ever see, I thought Worrincy's pass to Nash on our line was forward as was the pass for their first try, how he didn't even go to the screen for their 6's try was unbelieveable. He was the worst ref I've seen this season, comfortably.
This could be a good thing having a poor performance tonight, will make us even less complacent for the massive game next week.

True that we MUST improve 100% on tonight, I am sure we will do a lot better and maybe Fev will be a bit too cocky??/
Hope so.

| I thought it was a great match in the end. First half was a bit dull but some real tough plays out there tonight. A Gritty, nuggety war of attrition. Hunslet really did pull out all the stops in defence. Their tackling was awesome. Two months ago we'd have lost that match. A reet proper game o' rugby leeeeeeeeague that was.
People slate The Championships for crap defence but tonight that was a great defensive effort and I think - a credit to this league. Vikingman commented on the Widnes board that it was the worst ever game he'd seen. I don't understand people sometimes. Damned if you put 60 on your opposition, damned if you're locked in a struggle. People need to start showing some respect to all the clubs in this league who do it tough, week in, week out for a pittance of a financial return. Everyone at these clubs deserve better.
I'm happy tonight - I witnessed a cracking game of my favourite sport.

Agreed that Penky would have had a field day tonight but I'd bet we'd have lost last week with him.

| Very poor tonight from Fax, great to see a such a good try win the game but the rest was just awful. Referee was bad for both sides, and the less said about the March brothers the better, that stuff from the drop outs was pathetic coming from a player-coach.
If anything tonight showed how important Penkywicz is, teams constantly try to slow us down with spoiling tactics, Penky often stops that from happening with his play from dummy half. The sooner he's back the better. You can't argue with 3 wins on the bounce though, whatever fashion they come in, winning breeds confidence and hopefully Fax will get another next week.

We have heard that before. Isnt that part of his job as coach though to make sure the players turn up mentally prepared?

| I wasn't surprised by how hard a nut Hunslet were to beat and I think this was refelcetd by the fact i clapped hunslet off the field at the end, something that i haven't done for an away team for a number of seasons.
As a number of people have already said we would have lost that match less than three matches ago. Congratulations for the team for toughing it out, but ploease realise now that to win next week they have to play 100% better - get fit quick Penky!

True, but there's only so much a coach can do, once the players cross the whitewash its up to them.

Can I be the first to shout "sack Nobby" ?
I worked last night & watched the playback before going to bed late & disagree with most posts, firstly UC. Penky would have been too gOod for them WITH a broken toe LOL.
The ref had to ref the way the two sets of players performed, OK, Whitey's knock on was a horror, but there was quite a bit going on in there, I thought his communication with the players was A1.
Hunslet's gameplan almost worked for them, tough luck, a quality play won it for us, that's what we're good at. Our goal-line defence was good most of the time, it was our scramble that let us down from long range.
We have a massive game next week, this game will be easily fixed up witha whole week's preparation, I fancy us to turn Fev over if we're fit & healthy. A walkover win wouldn't have been ideal prep IMO.

| Watched the game on sky.
To be fair, I dont think we played too badly, looked solid and defence was good. As said, we would have lost that game a few weeks ago. Goal line defence was superb and we built pressure well and controlled the ball for a good amount of our sets of six. A brilliant play won it. Above all I think there is a lot more structure to our play, both with and without the ball, which gives us a chance to catch out teams with our more "off the cuff" stuf when the occassion arises. The number of penalties we concede has dropped remarkably too - how many would we have given away a few weeks ago with some of the headhunters Hunslet were pinging in last night. We are really starting to look more professional and that we mean business.
The ref, i thought, had a good game and let it flow. Question about whether the Hunslet player played at the ball in the charge down that led to their try and Whites dropped ball went backwards, crossing the line into our in goal area.
Finally, hats off to Hunslet. They came and had a go at the Champions and hopefully now Fax will wake up and realise everyone is raising their game for us. Well done everyone - again a game we would have lost comfortably a few weeks ago

| A wins a win from my point of veiw.
our forwards were matched last night, and they need to up their game ten fold for next week.
but like afew people have said on here, a month ago we would have lost that, and probably struggled for a BP!
well done miles, awesome effort last night! getting back to his best?! sure hope so.
Nash needs to get a grip, goddard will be playing next week in his place.
Whats up with Black, the ammount of space he had last night, and he ran it once! and he was forced into that!
i hope they get roasted in training this week, and come out all guns blazing to kick them flatcappers out of cup!!

The Ref was poor. OK you have to try and let the game flow but Hunslet particularly the March Thugs were taking the Pee. Messing around taking drop outs, Messing around at the play the ball and trying to tell the Ref what decisions to make. I thought Whites "Knock on" went backwards-just and Worrincy was very lucky with his offload to Nash on our line as that easily could have been given as forward.
I though Aizue, Fairbank and Gil were the only forwards making good ground. Sam Barlow didnt have the best of games although he was looking to offload but often nobody there. As said bannister in the first half put in 21 Tackles with Bob on 13. Black just want in the game and didnt seem to want to take Hunslet on. Late in the second half he ran 30 metres and went about 1 metre forward. I was disappointed in Nash. He just seems to pick his games and his defence along side Greenwood and Rob needs to improve. I think Goddard would be better than Nash at the moment. We seemed to lack direction with too much offloading and not enough hard running forward and backing up.

| I may have been slightly harsh after a few beers.. However, I have seen Hunslet 4 times now this season unfortunately and they have been no better in every game that I have seen and expected... "a bit more" from Fax.
