Except for a move to Newcastle Falcons ground under another name, or even the move to Edinburgh that we've all been expecting.

Id doubt it.
This comes just a week after the 10th anniversary of their "merger" with Hull.

That's going a bit far. This is Rugby League. Any RL club going under is not good for the sport. Yes, it rather puts the RFL's expansion plans under scrutiny once more but i wouldn't say it's a cause for celebration.

| Sorry to say but I am not going to lose any sleep over this as they have got themselves in this mess by trying to run before they can walk.
Look at all the Aussies they have signed the last few years, how can they afford all of them???
Its what gave them the advantage to get out of NL2 and into NL1.

| They are a joke anyway, how a club with one million people in close proximety cant get more than a few hundred to come and watch just proves the RFL are clueless for pursuing these strategies.
Local Amateur clubs can pull more than that round here.
I dont feel sorry for them, i mean who would i be feeling sorry for anyway, theres no interest and no RL beating heart up there.

| Ironic that Gateshead FC who play at the same stadium to 500 fans have announced this week that they are going from part-time to full-time next year. Kinda differ in fortune there.

In the last 15 years or so I have seen two things I thought I would never see in NE England, first class county cricket and professional rugby league. In both sports, since they started, we have faced comments like those above. It's water off a ducks back now.
We may not have any fans at GIS for games but those that turn up are passionate about the game of RL. I have travelled the length and breadth of the country (and Toulouse!) watching both Thunder since 1999 and Gateshead Storm (RLCN), I know, I know your family have been watching RL since Adam was a lad but we weren't lucky enough to be invited into your little closed shop till 1999.. The situation at Thunder appears to be a dispute between shareholders and hopefully will be resolved without Administration. I will post a couple of links so you can keep abreast of the situation at our little outpost of RL, interesting point in the second last paragraph of the second link...

I enjoy my visits to The Shay and hope to be there next year, never know I may even buy you a pint and we can discuss the great sport that is RL

| Sad to see Gateshead struggling and hope any problems can be sorted ASAP. I personally want Gateshead to grow because I think it is good for the game and good to see the sport developing in other areas. I just hope that they go about things properly and not just ship in Aussies/Kiwis as that really is not what any club in the UK should be about. I would hope that Fax brings through and uses more Halifax or English guys rather than bring in players from Australia, NZ, PNG etc. All the best to Gateshead and feel a little sad that some Fax fans wish so much ill will on them.

Whilst the RFL may go about their expansion plans ar@e about that isn't Gatesheads fault. Whether there are 500 or 50000 fans I still wouldn't wish the club folding on any of them.
Surprised by some of the comments on here to be honest.
Good luck Gateshead - see you next season
