| This thread isn't about the bigger issue of DR, (you will have to take that up with the RFL and the other clubs involved in it) it's about Fax going down that road and who is best placed for them to make that decision.
For me as a supporter the choices are to listen to.
1.) The opinions of outsiders from other clubs and those whom claim the club will be at the dictate of the SL club and the BOD and coach are lying when they say that is not the case.
or
2.)To trust the BOD and coach.
I choose to go with the BOD and coach.
(Also. I would never presume to try and tell other clubs what they should or should not do or even dream to think I am in a better position than them to know their circumstances.)
Up until now in previous seasons Fax as a club made their stand along with other Championship clubs (some of whom were their biggest rivals) not to use DR.
Things have changed.
Most of those clubs changed their minds and used it.
The competition has changed with the introduction of the new league set up with a chance of P and R.
The distribution of funding has changed with the most cash going to the successful clubs.
The strength of Halifax's rivals has changed.
It would appear that the Fax BOD feel the club cannot compete in 2015 and moving on with their rivals by staying as they were, for now, and only for now along with other changes at the club they have chosen to adopt DR whilst they press on to try and take the club forward.
You either adapt to the times and changes or get left behind and that's what they are doing.

| Quote: Fax Missionary "Totally agree and everybody should respect an individual's choices.
In the Fax SL era when we became the Bluesox I did my uni dissertation on branding in a services industry and used the club as my reference example. When I surveyed fans i was shocked by the number who would no longer associate with the club due to such a crappy name. Sport is such an emotive subject and clubs often overlook the implications of changes which alter an individual's perception of what the club means to them. Our attendances fell during the SL era, even when we finished third we only averaged around $5k so there was an obvious impact. Yes change is inevitable, but consideration of any negative impact on fans and effective management is something clubs really do not handle well, preferring to focus only on the 'dream'. It's only when things don't work out as planned that they look at the 'what ifs', by which time it's too late to recover the disenfranchised multitudes.
Anyway, not wishing to start another argument, just my point of view.
My personal compromise for the limited time that I will be back in Halifax is that I will attend games. However, only games where there are NO HKR players involved. Take that as you wish, but the emotion to me is strong enough not to support the DR link up in the only way I can without abandoning the club I have followed for so long.'"
I accept your point of view. Cannot understand your compromise though. If I lived abroad and could only watch my team on odd occasions I could not miss out on the pleasure it gives me just because a player from another club was included in the team. Other than the club missing out on an odd entrance fee the only person to suffer seems to be yourself. The saying "cutting off your nose to spite your face" comes to mind. There must be more productive ways of making your point.

| So many arrogant People who think they can tell us how to Support the Club and that we shouldnt dare question or raise concerns about certain things. Myself and others will question things that effect our Club. That doesnt mean we dont Support the Club, board or Coach- we just may have a different opinion or want to know a bit more info. The arrogant People on here who seem to think they can tell others how to be fans or that we should just accept things can go and do one for me. Some of These are not even Fax fans!

This thread is about the wider affects of DR as well as it's impact on Fax. It was brought in to benefit SL clubs when they cut reserve teams and nowts changed. You seem to have an issue about people calling people liars. I went to the meet the coach night when it was stated that we hadn't agreed to go DR with any team at that stage. I can tell you that I heard from a good source several weeks prior to the meeting that we were going DR and our parent club would be Hull KR. Make of that what you will.

| Quote: marillion man "My first visit to the Faxfans messageboard for a couple of weeks & it appears i haven't missed much at all, things going smoothly, nice & quiet into the new season semmeingly.
A couple of facts:
Around eight years ago, King Cross Park U12's won the Yorkshire cup.
None of the kids in that squad play for Halifax nowadays - current age 19/20.
Around four years ago, Siddal U16's won the Yorkshire cup.
As far as I'm aware, none of the kids in that squad other than Mac Higgins & Joe Martin ( who both incidently went to Gateshead last season on loan - Coincidence ? ) play for Halifax nowadays - current age 19/20.
FEAR NOT THOUGH, because Siddal U12's recently won the Yorkshire cup - Jason Netherton please take note, the postcode
for REACTIV park, Siddal is HX3 9EW. See this snippet of advice as development of the little "round ROBIN of clubs" of Hull KR, Halifax & Gateshead, a christmas gift from me to you my friend.
There, got that off my chest, did someone mention development of talent ?
Anyway, i was really looking forward to purchasing a mini-season ticket booklet of four games for £60 but i wouldn't know what to do with the spare ticket after using one each for Fev, Leigh & Bradford games so i probably won't bother with that, but i think it's a great idea, well done those who thought it up.
The two new shirts - FANTASTIC designs & colours both. Back to traditional club colours & design, liking those a lot but since the dual-reg announcement i can't help feel that the timing of the red & white strip is all part of this current programme, shame 'cos I would have had both of these items but sadly not now.
New coach & assistant - Both players of decent standard, talent & honesty from what i watched, good luck to both in their roles at Fax, if their playing calibre is transferred into coaching they'll both be good 'uns & from what i'm hearing the training sessions are very much attacking focussed. HOORAH
Now then Colin. Boxing day for us was dropping Hudd-Shay junior and his mates off at Burnley to watch Liverpool . This was followed by a ride to Pendleton where a brisk walk ended with a visit to The Swan With Two Necks, CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014. A delightful day out but like yourself we would have preferred to be wrapped up with a bovril watching Fax shake off the cobwebs in a pre season encounter but it was not to be. Unfortunately for us this will be the norm this coming season due to the clubs decision on DR. RL and sport is all about rivalry, us and them, not about cosying up with each other. For the Fax fans who accept thr boards decision, albeit grudgingly, think on this scenario. First home game of the season. 10 minutes to go and it's Fax 14v14 Leigh. We take a Halifax playrr off and bring on a HKR player in his place. 79 minutes, said Hull player scores the winning try for us....Great we've beaten the beggars! But hang on, it wasn't us was it? No, not for me. I would rather live or die with our own lads who are Our players. Its called pride , its called sport. Richard Oastlar, Brighouse. Elland IPA 6.5% Mmm!

I agree with you it was brought in for the reasons you state and worse than that in then got abused by the SL clubs which we all know about.
I agree with you I don't like our BOD and coach being called liars.
I agree with you at the coach night it was stated that at that time we hadn't agreed to go DR with any team at that stage.
I agree with you that prior to that meeting negotiations were taking place with a number of other clubs and from what you were told it was going to be HKR.
What I make of it is at some point after the coach night meeting it was agreed between the two clubs, I can't see any cover up in any of it or lying taking place.
I agree with you that I and the vast majority including myself wishes it didn't exist or we could avoid it if at all possible.
I agree with you we all have the right to openly say how we feel and decide what to do accordingly and no one is better than the other for doing so.

Keith, fully understand your point and trust me, it's something I have considered. Trouble is I know that if I attend games featuring one or more HKR players in the Fax team that it would just grate away at me and destroy the experience. That has the potential to cause greater long term damage to my love of Fax than the short term pain of missing a game when I'm home. This way, when the DR thing fizzles out I can get back to following my team with renewed vigour.

Many years ago when I worked for a bank on decimalisation day one old bird told me "it won't last you know"
Maybe, just maybe, that old lady had a vision of something called the Euro currency John ? And just like RL clubs & it's decision makers, depending which government ( or in the current format - a coalition of clowns from two seperate parties btw ) is in power in the UK , it might just happen, so there ! Never say never my friend.
I'll tell you what i'll do to compromise my support of Halifax RLFC, if one of you kind souls could gladly ask the question at the next fans forum or in person to one of the club directors on my behalf, maybe even one or more of the board might read this post on the messageboard.
I'm prepared to watch Halifax games so long as the Halifax matchday 1-18 is named around about friday lunchtime, maybe with a deadline of 3pm so that i can make alternative plans for the coming weekend if any Hull KR players are named. If someone could possibly pass the info onto me i can then study the players names & i don't mean Halicat posting it on twitter at thursday night's training/boot cleaning session either...
I'm quite prepared to continue picking & choosing my rugby outings but now that the club has complicated matters i'd like a little bit of help from them in keeping the club afloat with my pay at the gate fee's, 'cos apparently it's damaging to the club's future if i'm a stayaway, maybe some of the b.o.d should take a look at themselves & their actions and stop blaming other people for their errors in that case.
F.A.O. HuddShay, we had a cracking walk along the canal to the Old Brandy wine yesterday too, had a pint of something from Dent brewery 4.5% and it was OK. Had a few in the Works a brew called Snowflake 4.2 % which was grand & then finally we called in the Shepherd's & unfortunately there was no Blonde available so i had three pints of Osset's Silver King, not a bad effort to say we were only gonna have the one, cheers mate, see you out walking somewhere on a sunny day

Cracking post MM. I have just shown Mrs Hudd-Shay your post and we agree that your compromise would be a reasonable way forward wheras we would still be able to support the team. It would need the team/squad being announced before the game obviously. Also the problem with joint youth development would still remain, how the hell that would benefit us is beyond me but I think that you have come up with a fair compromise. P.S. If I called in at 'Shepherds and the re was no blonde on I would have a go at 'brunette! Don't tell Mrs Hudd-Shay. The Bishop's Mill, Durham. Big Lamp Embers 5.5 % Mmm!

i am and always have been against the DR system, only there for the good of SL teams. if they want players to get game time either set up reserve league or release them so can play for other teams. stop hedging their bets.

Yes but what if she was just a stand in and didn't actually work for there and was filling in from another brewery.
