The important thing this year is to finish either 1st or 2nd. Winning the grand final really isn't that important compared to that. Given the choice would you rather finish 2nd and be rewarded with £450,000 and be in with a good chance of a top four place next year, or finish 3rd but win the grand final and get £40,000 and have all but no chance of a top four place next year.

Personally if we cant finish top then I would want to see us in the grand final. On the other hand i do understand what that extra money could do for the club although from what MS has been saying the club budgeted for 3rd so if thats the case their should not be a problem should they?

The point is, it's not worth spending a lot of money this year to earn extra money for next year. If you do that, you'll use next year's money to pay for this year and have no money left for next year.
Personally, I think one or two clubs have failed to see the difference too. |

Don't expect a problem financially. The BOD do seem to run the club very well that way, however if we do miss out on second place does that mean we can only budget for finishing 5th or 6th next year? As we probably won't have the money needed to compete for higher. That's why I think finishing in the top two is far more important than winning the grand final, and kind of dilutes the occasion. |

Exactly my thoughts when I heard the distribution was going to be on league positions.
I expect there was a big lobby from folk who choke on the big occasion. |
