I'd prefer it if he was getting his chance now.I think that this signing is a backward step,but I hope I will be proved wrong.We could end up a bit of a laughing stock if we're not careful.Still a lot of folk think we are that already this season,even though we are joint 2nd in the table(sort of).

The year is 2010 and the likes of Gene, Holroyd, Smith (Who went to Leigh) etc are past it and not what we want. We want to see young players given a chance or brought in.
Wish we could bring in a Coach who could A) Develop players and the team and B) Did not live in the past! c) Look at bringing in players who can benefit the team more than 1 season! Very disappointed in this signing. What message does this give to Bowman?

I'm pretty astounded by this signing. Both times we have played Swinton this year, all Holroyd did was take kick-offs, pass the ball along the line, and kick on the sixth tackle. That was quite literally his only input. On numerous possession sets that Swinton had, I actually noticed him hiding away on the wing, which was bizarre for a playmaker!
Surely Calland can't be serious! Any Fax fans remember one of Holroyd's final games for you? The one against us at Mount Pleasant where the awesome Ben Feehan went round him for 5 tries on his debut?

Cant see what all the fuss is about. As stated by Matt, Holly is a short term fix for the rest of the season. If people look at the positives young Bowman could learn a few things from him to help develop his kicking game which right now he clearly doesnt have. Lets judge the decision to recruit him at the end of the season. For me he is a good signing. I would rather he was with us than be picked up by the likes of Widnes until the end of the season.

I don't think it's a bad move. We all know he has an exceptional kicking game - an area where we have been steady at best this season. He's a great organiser and a talker as well . My only concern is if he plays at 6 , either black or Branigan might not play unless calland is considering moving one of them to the forwards - perhaps branigan might be moved to 13.

Branigan at 13 was the conclusion I'd got to.
