It's an odd situation I agree.

Basil Hosseini (?) has "worked" for EMC for a while. Was stadium manager at Keepmoat in Donny when it opened. I'm almost sure he said he was paid by Council (though stand to be corrected on that one).

Think all the food / drink is provided through EMC's supply chain so I suspect that is where EMC benefit.

Who has told you this rubbish?

Spoken to bar staff in South Stand bar on two occasions and got different stories each time about prices.1st time told prices not going up,2nd time told prices going up but not as much as in East Stand.Prices went up 50p in one week for pint of bitter and up 40p for glass of lemonade.Town supporters were told that they probably wouldn't be getting Newcastle Brown in because the brewery/company that EMC deal with don't sell it and the cheapest they could buy Newcie Brown at was £1-70 a bottle and they couldn't sell it for more than £2-30.Obviously 60p profit per bottle is not good enough.We went into bar yesterday after our 1st pint the bitter went off and they couldn't get another barrel on,tried the lager which was flat as was the lemonade.Won't be going in there again until they see sense and get staff who can do the job and charge prices which are not extortionate.Was surprised to see bar was full at half-time so as long as people keep going in then EMC will continue with their prices.

I was shocked to see no Newcastle Brown, too. Sacrilege!

I paid £3.90 for a pint of lively Tetleys (it took nigh on 10 mins to settle) and a half of coke. Hip flask next week, methinks.

As far as I understand it the Council put out a contract to tender, different companies could then apply for the contract.

The Winner (EMC in this case) get to run the facilities. and pass on a percentage to the council.

Same situation as if the council decided to franchise out a cafe in a sports centre for example.

I may be wrong though. But If I'm right, EMC set the prices, to cover their costs, make a profit for themselves and a profit for the council

As I dont like getting stuck in the traffic on the way home from the Shay I was going to nip in the east stand bar after the game , but as it was empty I didn't bother , unfortunatley you are now seeing what we have been putting up with for the last 15 months

At the meeting at The Shay with Basil Hosseini and Russell Moore(?), where we were shown around the new stand, we were told that the pricing is the council's decision and that EMC don't take anything of the takings / profits. I thought that was strange myself but that is what we were told. How they benefit from it? Well like I said, maybe it's through their suppliers somehow, because they seem to sell the same stuff in each stadium they "run".

Best way to avoid the prices is to not spend any money in the ground, Boycott the bars ect

From now on I'll just be buying a Golden Gamble ticket, may even push the boat out a little and buy two.

With the money saved by not drinking in the bars in the ground, why not join Cashfax
