| Quote: jeffvickers "Reality is no "atmosphere" is generated anyway, other than a whimper of "Oh Hali, Hali" from what's left of the long departed "Barmy Army".
Most noise I've heard generated this year has been in the North Stand when Leigh, Bradford and Widnes were in there.'"
It was the same in the latter months of KH reign. The team can change that with good performances. Guessing you weren't at blackpool bash?

I was, a good day out, lots of ale and chanting. How I used to know it on the terraces "in the day"

| The working class tend to drink to excess. Therefore create an atmosphere which catches on with the sober fans. Fax fans in the majority don't drink and are a little subdued.
Hence why Widnes. Leigh. Fev create noise.
FC Halifax Town make plenty noise, but the pubescent teens are spoiling it by watching too much "Green Street" Council now issued banning orders.
Result will be a more subdued atmosphere for FCHT lower league games.
Just my general observations.

| My main concern about the south stand closure is it tells me how out of touch the club is with its support. Many will now not by a season ticket for the simple reason they like to stand in there and always have. It's similar to the move from thrum hall in that way.
Also what about the support that can't get to every game because of work so don't buy a season ticket?they will be now forced to pay extra £ a game than they would if at the south stand because it's closed and this may stop this type of support turning up.
Basically to anyone without a season ticket the price is now £20 nearly all year as it will only be open when the club feels it's worth it which is 3 times a year maybe.
I really feel they should rethink this one.

| That's a really good point. For the last game against Sheffield, it was £15 into the East Stand. If/when the South Stand isn't in use, then it should be South Stand turnstile prices for the East Stand.... and the club should be saying that now....
I've bought a season ticket for next season (40 years on, old habits die hard), but wasn't offered any "bolt on's" when I rang. Tbh, from what folk have said, they're hardly at a discount anyway?
Atmosphere (aka noise via chants/singing) is vastly affected by the architecture of the ground. The noise in the Scrattin' shed at Thrum Hall was deafening, but this was helped by a fairly enclosed space. Big grounds with big stands (and the Shay isn't small) need vastly more numbers of folk making some noise to make it "atmospheric".
It's a downward spiral at the moment, but there can be a bit of a revival both in numbers (small) and atmosphere (bigger) if the team can a) win games, and b) play with some passion and style next season.

| Quote: Faxlore "instead of moaning on here, phone the club and pit you questions to them. then as you are on your phone buy your season ticket.
If you end up in the East stand for a game or two you will be getting a good deal as your season ticket for the South stand is cheaper. Stop moaning about how bad the club is and maybe start thinking about how you can do your bit to help, even just buying your ticket helps.
Think not, what can my club do for me, but what can I do for my club !!'"
I should not have to phone the club my frustration is that this year of all years when they need our money they should be spot on with their communication to us, not even sending reminders to existing season ticket holders is just plain daft, I have always had a letter or email over the last 20 years of having a season ticket, its the best way to remind fans to get one! As for putting us in the East stand you are missing the point, lots of RL fans prefer to stand and it also affects the atmosphere. Oh and by the way I will be buying my season ticket despite the way the club have gone about this as yes we all need to stick with them right now.

| This sort of sums up our predicament, with Fax4Life and Faxlore (both 100% blue 'n' white) bickering about season tickets instead of talking about the team and our prospects next season.
The HRLFC office isn't exactly over-staffed, they may not be the most efficient, and we don't have an effective marketing manager (we've employed folk with that job title over the last few years, but none have delivered). Hence why marketing (and e-mails/letters) are sporadic and inconsistent.
Could any of us do better? Maybe. But it's a thankless and an all-consuming job to build and maintain a productive marketing machine for a professional sports club.
I've been as guilty as anyone of slating the club over their marketing. I've sent mails to them trying to help explain how they could do better. Ultimately though, they're constrained by the number of staff they have, their inherent skills, and available technology.
In short, give them a break... but maybe listening a bit more to the terrace fans (rather than the East Stand corporates) might give a more balanced approach to the game day experience for everyone?
