I don't think any of us are actually in favour of D/R and loans, its just that the RFL have, in their infinite wisdom brought both in.
Why would we put ourselves at a disadvantage by standing on the moral high ground.
Recalls, Rugby League and other sports lend players so they can get the game time they need, would a club lend a player if it knew it could not recall him because of injuries?
Richard has done the honourable thing, he has let Taylor go because it was promised, I bet if Craven hadn't been recalled now but in a few weeks Taylor would have his seaside sabbatical cut short.
We should always use the tools that are available to us.

| The difference between Cravens recall and DR; Whilst at Fax Craven couldn't play for Widnes at any level, he was in all intents and purposes a Halifax player. Robinson is a Hull KR player who is playing for us this weekend and could very well play for Hull KR the week after, then us the week after, and so on. Makes a big difference in my opinion.

| For those people who are against DR or loans just look at the size of our squad, without them, we would barely be able to put 17 players on the pitch.

How you doing Nat?
Help me out with this then.
Widnes recall Craven, but might release him next week. Loan.
Fairbanks has been recalled and then released, twice I think. Loan
Robinson is a lent to us but might be recalled, D/R.
If the headlines had said "Robinson loaned to Fax" would that have sounded better?

But that doesn't matter, surely its better to take to the pitch with half a team who are contracted to us, players who bleed blue and white, we don't want the mercenaries, we are Halifax, better to stick to tradition, lets not win anything whilst holding our heads up high.
On the other hand, you are absolutely spot on.

| Fairbank was injured so we ended the loan temporarily so we could sign Dickinson I believe, as you an only have two loan players. Its not normal for loan players to go back and forth, usually its for a set period of time. Do you think its correct that Robinson could technically play for Hull KR vs Catalans on the 25th and then again for us on the 28th? Without any sort of paperwork or agreements changing.....

| The rights and wrongs of Loans and DR have been flogged to death, the vast majority agree that it would be better without DR all together with loans slightly less so.
I feel that way but as long as it's in the rules.
Our opposition uses it against us.
AND
Most importantly, the Fax coaching staff after all other options have been considered and come up short then we should use both options, they very likely will bring short term results with no lasting longer term damage.

| For the record I am not keen on DR, as I think most of us on this forum aren't, BUT RM made it quite clear at the start of the season he would use every option open to him and that DR was one of them. Our squad has got smaller and smaller as time has gone on to a point where other than Johnstone, Morrell and Kaye we have no recognised pivot position cover. We also don't have a pot of money we can dip into to buy replacmenets etc. He clearly thinks Taylor isn't good enough and he has no second team player to pull in-so what does he do? use the DR option. I have seen a lot of Championship teams this year with DR players in abundance. we are using one in the pivot positions and I for one will be at Hunslet supporting Fax-dual reg player as well. We need to finish as high as possible this season to get more RFL money for next season so we can buy players. Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture!

Spot on! I personally will cheer any player wearing a fax shirt all the way to the try line.

| D/R was the subject of a big debate pre season with some good points being raised on both sides, I gave my pennyworth at the time. I am not in favour of D/R as I am sure RM is not, but face facts he needs to put out the best team he can and if that includes D/R for some games through necessity rather that on a whim,so be it.
Look at the mess we got into when our previous coach took the moral high ground and did not utilise a benefit that was made available for him to exploit.
Sure it can be difficult to coach for a game when you do not know who the opposition are going to field as previous and current coaches have remarked. lets use it to our advantage this time and climb as high as possible for as big a pot of gold as possible.
Long live the blue and white.

agree, think the DR was the only option left this time.

| Situation is that this is within the rules so whilst the majority of us on here probably don't like it I think that we have to accept that the situation RM has been left with it is something he has to utilise where necessary. If the guy has a Fax shirt on then he is a Fax player - end of.
