| Strange, this became a battle between us and them, on the us side some were against, some were unsure and some were for, me included, on the them side all were against.
Strange, as I say had the debate been opened up to the people of Calderdale and not just the 3500 "supporters" do you think they would have embraced private ownership or a continual drain on the Councils Funds.
Private ownership was a chance to move both teams forward, now we will both play in a deteriorating stadium, an underused stadium, with a council who have no ideas
I say underused, LSV recently had an Elton John concert, Council owned, no funds to Leigh but the receipts will ensure that the ground will be kept up to date.
Our council have no such ideas, but I await Mr Abbott had.
Very sad.

Everyone has ideas. Its just a case of working with the Council to ensure that they maximise the stadium ensuring long-term security for both our clubs. Unfortunately this would never be the case under private ownership. Blimey, there has been enough concern on here regarding whether TA is still involved with Fax or not and the poor communication coming out of your club yet you still think he is/was the answer for the Shay. Naive at best.

That's fine then Bubba, i will remind you of this when it happens and the outcry on Shay.net is muted. My problem is that i suffer from the affliction of wanting the best for both the Football and Rugby teams.

Naive at best?
Tell me WHAT IS THE COUNCIL DOING TO MAXIMISE THE STADIUM?
Incidentally I thought it was your club as well?

Private ownership of the Shay would be best for one entity!
Its all irrelevant anyway. The articles on theshay.org/wp/ showed that the Council could never have sold the stadium for what TA was offering and given that he was going to borrow to make the purchase at the pittance he offered, its doubtful he would have had the money to buy it for its rightful value.

I think its obvious to all that the Shay is massively under realising its potential. Thats why I said its a case of working together to maximise the Shay.
No, I havent been to a Fax game since the stupid franchising was brought in. Still wish to see the club do well though.

I think they'd rather the council get a clue about commercialism. Completely clueless about how to run the shay as a revenue generating asset. Bit by bit the Shay will rot as funds aren't available to even maintain current upkeep. Ask Fev fans what state the toilets in the Skircoat stand were like. Still Bubba, out of sight out of mind. No one goes in there so leave it to rot.
Instead of prolonging the agony maybe your dad can start up the SST again and completely f*** things over in double quick time.

Calderfale council can't even flog the prime site under The Percy Shaw two years after it was built and twenty odd years after it was planned. What hope now The Shay?

| No surprise really but I do think that the Shay needs looking into as it is starting to look shabby and typical of the Council there seems to be no maintenance plan for the stands and inside facilities, just take a look at the walls in the East Stand facilities its full of scuff marks and its not good enough, plus what is happening with that eyesore at the East Stand corner???
Yer the Council need to be careful regards ever selling the Shay to a private owner BUT one thing a private owner WOULD do is maximise the facilities better getting more use out of them and they would make sure things were all in good condition I am certain. The worry I have with Council ownership is that with money being tight and the Shay losing money nothing will get done and the stadium will start to deteriorate which it is already take a look at the South Stand steel work which needs painting.
Its okay for Town fans saying no to Tony Abbott but what now? I think pressure needs to be pit on the Council to sort out that east Stand corner one way or the other, use it, cover it with advertising or drop it!

That's nowt to do with the Council Broad Street is privately owned, the Council don't own much in town now just their offices and Borough market.

The prime spot next door to the Club shop makes my blood boil , why it`s being used as a dumping ground for all to see is beyond me it just makes everything else look totally shabby . It`s geting to look rather like a builders yard now whoever is dumping all the stuff in there should be told to clear it and that includes Fax if anything belongs to them . It does not give the apearance that it is available for let and it`s not a good reflection on the stadium for it to look like that . The Local Authority do not have the mindset to run anything at a profit they merely spend ratepayers money for the benifit of the community as a whole ,they are charged with geting best value not making a profit .

| Personally i think both clubs have dodged a bullet here. The Reactiv statement and the councils reasons for not selling are at a total conflict.

That space is earmarked for the football club to incorporate offices and a shop. There were disagreements in the past between football club and council, they were close to being resolved. However it went on back burner again when Reactiv had their interest in the shay and the football club didn't know what was going on. I would expect with the reactiv interest officially over , that work may begin on the shop/offices.
