Starting with open side prop it'd defo be Shaune Lawrence Leon. Legend up Greetland, am sure you played in that infamous game with the Hx Irish when five of us got sent off, four in one incident, and a certain ex-Fax player's dad copped a sickener in a revenge attack from our man Shaune. Toughest prop i ever played with & he only took up amateur RL 'cos he got too many injuries doing karate or jujitsu or whatever it was LOL.
I'd have to fit Gary Widdop in there, he'd most likely be at 2nd row. Both Karl & John Fairbank ( from my Elland u17 & 19's days ) would be in there too, Karl in the 2nd row & John at prop.
Loose forward, too many good 'uns to choose from but Dom Fox was a great lad to have alongside you, not the biggest but a great brain & tough who loved defending. That's working on the theory that my old China Dave "bomber" Beaumont was a full back/centre/stand off rather than a loose forward.
Some great hookers would easily get in before me in that position...
Ooooh it get's you thinking a bit does this !!!
What pack would you select Leon from your playing days ?

You must have spent at least 2 seconds thinking of that one. Insult is lacking flair.

| Certainly was playing in that game, think I copped a Gary Ellis swinging arm in that one
Its a tough one really, props I'd Say HalifaxJohns hero Dave Smith and Gary Widdop, Gary played a fair amount at prop for us and he put me in for my first open age try - he still reminds me every time I see him. Back row Andy Greenway from my Illingworth days, devastating player who could fair motor for a big guy and Rob Barlow. Would loved to have seen Rob is his younger days one tough customer, looked after me many a time in his last season. At loose Scott Rawlinson, had the lot did Scott shame it didn't happen for him in the pro game.

I can't believe this, I offered to play in the second row, and Colin rejected me, I offered to play scrum half and Leon rejected me, can I at least be first sub?

I probably copped one off big Gary too, i usually did in the scrums ! I played a few times with Scott in the Fax colts, i always thought he was a great player too, he played in some fantastic Park Amateurs teams. I played against Rob when he was down at Tod & at Sowerby Spartans, they were always tough games against Sowerby.
I just thought, Jimmy Bailey would have to be in at loose forward in front of Foxy. I first played with Jimmy at Fax when he came in as a 16 year old playing colts u19's, i remember scoring off a short pass from him after he made a brilliant break at the old Central park Wigan in front of about 1500 speccies. He could play many positions could Jimmy & unlike half the town i really admired his rugby talents, he couldn't half make a gap for you. I was chuffed he got a 1st team run one game for Fax & should have had more really. Pain in the backside to play against though if you didn't put him on his backside. Great bloke too & still loves his rugby.

| To be honest although I'll admit to a fair amount of wind up I have raised some honest points/issues re: The Shay and your finances which you either cannot answer with a sound argument, resort to insults or ignore.
For all your talk of being 'above' the football fans you don't half come out with some childish crap yourselves. There's a few examples on this thread alone. In addition you keep delighting in describing all football fans as 'Neanderthals' or foul-mouthed hooligans (there is another word which begins with L but I can't remember what it is as it's rarely used...........).
Everything that has been said simply reinforced my initial view that the reason for your support of TA was simply because it was TA. For that reason we will never see eye to eye on the issue, but I am absolutely sure that the Town fans did the right thing in lobbying the council to stop the sale going through.
Those of you saying rugby fans don't come on the football forum obviously having been reading it properly. There is Swifty who to be fair supports both clubs but is a massive sympathiser of all things rugby. Then there's Calderdalle who talks so much crap it's untrue.
Your inability to address your own club's financial issues are worrying, if only because both club's have well documented past financial problems, but that's another matter.
