| Quote: Brew "Knock out games never get great gates. As soon as it goes to an all pay gate it puts people off. And there's always the suggestion of foul play when it comes to announcing a gate too when it's shared.
'"
One of the reasons I suggested "flexi tickets" last year was to tackle the problem of all-pay gates and this belief that season-ticket holders won't get their wallets out for all pay games. Nobody liked the idea but nobody's come up with an alternative. Meanwhile, we stagger along selling what clubs want to sell instead of what customers want to buy.

| I was amazed the tickets were £15 for a game we were going to win easily (no disrespect to Barrow) in a competition we notoriously haven't taken seriously in the past. Was always going to be a shockingly low crowd. Would've been better off having 1000 people in at a fiver a pop than 400 at £15.
Would be disappointed if the crowd is not 1200ish on Friday.

Charge £5 for one game and people will want it to be the same for most other games.
Reducing admission costs to a silly level is the way to emulate Bradford Bulls and we all know what happened there.
As for tomorrow night, you tell me how many of the 1200 you expect will be Sheffield supporters and then I'll tell you whether you'll get your wish.

Should we drop prices for league games against struggling clubs - just on the basis we might win them easily ?

I would suggest just doing it for when you play Fax as a friendly guesture to offset all the money we were robbed of when we signed Sam B.

No, because a large proportion of the crowd will be ST holders.
And I realise 400 at £15 would generate more money than 1000 at £5, but the difference wouldn't be vast, you've got more people watching your product and it would look a hell of a lot better.

We always get more supporters at Bramall Lane, more city centre folk and a smattering of Sheff Utd fans.

a. 1000 folk wouldn't come just because it was a fiver.
b. A sixth of the gate is significant if not vast.
c. The away club wouldn't agree.
It's a lot harder than just dropping your prices. Have a chat with Liam some time.

Blimey, best set of early then wouldn't want to be locked out.

I'd be surprised if it is that big to be honest.
Friday night factor is an issue for many people, finishing work then getting to Sheffield for half 7 isn't easy. Many folk are on a 5 week month and don't get paid until next friday so this weekend are on a tight budget. And its a Bank Holiday running into school half term.

I don't get this five week month business. What makes employers think that's a good idea ? If they want to work on weeks, why don't they pay their employees five weeks' pay in a five week month and four weeks' pay in a four week month ?
Back on topic ...... Fridays are no better than Sundays for us. Probably worse.
