With Crossley Lamont Bryan Tom Hodgson and now Ellis we are looking ok but I wouldn't worry if I was a Fax fan your squad will be good next season and you will be near the top end of the league again

Top drawer signing for Fev but doesnt come cheap. A player i think we all would have wanted to see in a Fax shirt but not to be. Have faith people, we will be in the mix when it matters next season.

Yer near but without 2 or 3 good signings we will be just that 'near' the top.
Come on Karl surprise us we need something as its season tickets time coming soon and right now some people aint getting that excited, I am one of those who will get one anyway but I hope we can get that big signing to excite the fans!

Cant say Fax are looking good for next year.We lose the Best Hooker in the League and a tough hard Working prop who was one of our Best defenders and a Quality Winger. We have no Quality ballplayers or gamebreakers. We have a donkey in Reittie on the Wing and a Host of average Backs who dont receive the Ball.We resign a host of long term injured old players like nanyn and morrison.The Club think an average Forward from Barrow is a Big Name signing but who has done nothing for a couple of seasons. Our tactics are poor and plain Boring. We are behind Sheffield,Leigh let alone Fev for next season. We Need 3 or 4 Quality signings but I honestly dont that Happening. Cant say i am looking Forward to next season right now.Sorry.

A similar thing happened to Widnes a few seasons back. They stopped spending.
Saved their money to get them ready for SL.

What I dont understand, is that, if you listen to other people, we supposedly have cash to splash on players; if that is the case, why aren't we attracting new "big name" players to the club? I wonder if the lure of attractive attacking rugby is taking these players elsewhere.

No they didnt, they just employed poor coaches, they spent just as much, if not more than everybody else, now I'm not suggesting Karl isnt a good coach, he is, but nobody gets it right all the time

Hey I remember losing at Swinton, London Skolars, coming away from "victory park" Chorley after a very narrow win! We've seen the brown end of things for longer than I care to remember. Apart from the 70's purple patch, other than the odd flirtation with the cup, times have been thin or thinner!!

This might not last forever. But I'll enjoy it while it does,

Hats off to Fev - speaking to rugby fans at work - they think that the Championship is brilliant especially when they compare the likes of Fax, Fev, Leigh and Sheffield to the lower teams in SL.

I think the acid test will be the announcement of season ticket prices. Particularly if there is an early bird offer.

No signing by then of a quality halfback ( for gods sake no more forwards) and I think the board would be entitled to have started asking pertinent questions. That is the time when the coach can have a very dramatic influence on our business income stream from now to Xmas.

If the rumours are to be believed, I'm not fussed at all that Andy Ellis has signed for Fev because some of the figures being bandied around will surely have the RFL questioning how so many players can fit within a £300K cap ( see what i did there ? ). Maybe mr probiz has had the nod of approval like mr stobart got at Widnes a few year ago, who knows ? Any single player is just one injury away from a disastrous season's planning by his team's backroom staff anyway as most of us have witnessed over the years.
I don't see how the prize money available at this second-tier of RL parallels with some clubs' spending, I really am at a loss at it all somehow I just don't get it.
In the case of Sheffield Eagles by contrast, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet & applaud them for reaching the GF for the second season in succession, this year playing all their games away from home, Leigh on a thursday especially a massive effort, yet they produce very little in the way of gate receipts season after season yet their coach can manage to get his lads up for the contest at the vital stage of the season on what we are lead to believe a much inferior budget.
So, I ask the question: Is it really all about money, or is desire & determination a bigger influence on players & staff around them ?


Some people might not like my views & I never accept that players don't go out there to win every contact, every tackle, every match, but why are some teams much better at it than others ?

Unless a team, or maybe more than one can get promoted to the SL by whatever means then I feel it's simply a weekend hobby for us all below SL nowadays. Powell yet again has been making the right noises about Fev & Eagles in yesterday's trade papers about those two clubs' merits with regards to SL in the future, I'm beginning to believe Fev have been given the nod.
