| Quote: OFFTHECUFF "Too be honest Widnes where crap, as blew it after been 12 points up.Allen expected Tyrer to catch a pass 12 ft high and i am disappointed we have signed him for Sl.James Coyle should never wear a Widnes shirt, and we have 3 youngsters in Gore,Craven, and Owens who could have done a better job.No composure, or kicking game and if play like that at Fev, then no bonus points.Anyway goodluck in the Championship. We will need it in Superleague.
To be fair to Widnes they were crap. I said they were the worst team i had seen this season when we played at yours and ive seen nothing to change my mind. A really poor team but whats it matter?
We had half a team missing and still won, i feel sorry for Widnes fans as in the last 3 years of the Championship they havnt really achieved anything.

| I don't buy into this !
"Widnes were crap" bull$hit, they were "crap" enough to be 24-12 in front and as it proved in the end another score for them at that point would have seen us scratching for a bonus point at best.
Try the line "they were MADE to look crap" for the second half of the game, the conditions as they were, they should have tightened their own game up & watched their awful self discipline instead of piggy backing Halifax. For lessons in throwing the ball around desperado's, Halifax are the master craftsmen, but don't expect it to work on every occassion, you slid in defence very well to combat our fringe/flank attacks, but you didn't cope very well with the dabs through when Danny Jones spotted your sliding defence and he put the ball in the correct space for our runners to score.
Betts got his gameplan wrong I'm afraid, Ball got his correct & his players executed it very well.

I agree. Also, Widnes wanted to beat us so badly they utterly lost the plot by not playing to the conditions and giving away cheap field position through too many penalties. What did the penalty count end up, anyone?

The only thing worse than a bad loser is a poor winner.
Probably worth getting your own house in order before you start worrying about other teams. What did you have there last night 1,700 - 1,800 of your own fans?

| Nice touch from the Fax lads to run to South Stand at the end, as always lead by Miles and Rob. Interesting that Frank, Rob and Whitey were interviewed by Pete Emmett on the field too.
Strange that the Widnes players didn't come over to acknowledge their fans. The fans which had travelled over, on a thursday night, in appalling weather, when they could have stayed home and watched on SKY TV. The Widnes fans were in very good voice all evening so why not make the effort to actually come over to thank them??
Maybe due to a large number of their players knowing they won't be playing for them next season? Maybe not.
Either way, to just briefly applaud the fans from halfway line is not right.

Not sure which game you were at... the Widnes players made their way over to the fans as they always do.
Never known them to not to that to be honest.
It's always pleasing to get a win but I was quite amused at the reaction of the Fax players and fans to be honest. I was half expecting a trophy to be presented and a lap of honour.
Still nice to see that the RFL managed to pacify your masses with a referee gained victory.

You just gotta love it......
I know we all watch with our own team coloured glasses on, but come on Widnes first try was a clear forward pass and their third had 2 forward passes in the play........
Sheer grit and determination won that game..

Didn't come right down but came most of the way, no issues at all they were all gutted too. Also lads without contracts ATM Tyrer, Varks, Hulme prob our best players!
Gutted after yesterday we seem to struggle with pens second half and don't think it's fitness either. Look like we had but didn't kill game off again unfortunately. Lot of credit to Fax for coming back though!

| The Widnes players all came over to applaud us at the end and if you think otherwise you were clearly watching a different game. They don't have to come past the ingoal area to acknowledge us, iirc Paddy Flynn was the last to applaud us and he was stood between the try line and 10 metre line

I wasn't watching a different game, I was merely saying what I saw after the match. It was commented on by a few people near me also. They didn't sm to come over to the fans, they never made it into the 20m area. If I'm wrong then fine, just having a discussion, not starting an argument.
Yes your players were gutted, and understandably, your fans must have been gutted too.
Personally I think the Widnes fans were a credit to their club last night, some good banter. Especially liked the "forward" shouts in first half. Very amusing. Think you might get to do that again at Leeds next year, their South Stand is worse than ours at calling "forward" for every pass.
