| They should put 'em to good use & make the club money by standing outside the junior turnstiles. Its well known that quite a few of the away fans at the football "try it on" and go through the kids gate & often get away with it, as they are full of ale & the bloke on the gate or the steward doesn't want the bother.
As in my original post, these guys can be heavy-handed as seen on Saturday. They are effectively nightclub doormen & can't wait for some biff to happen.

| From a Corby fan on Courier website
[iFirst and foremost I'd like to thank the Halifax fans that I met in the pub before the game and the ones in and around the stadium, they were top class and a credit to the club. Having done a bit of research i have found out the the firm of bouncers (because that's what they are) are owned and run by a local business man, now this business man must have some first class contacts at this paper because this article has been very selective of the facts. The bouncers were overly aggressive and very confrontational to the away support from the kick off. The main scuffle that happened in the stadium was caused by the bouncers who deemed it an offence to celebrate a goal being caused. I personally witnessed a 14 year old Corby supporter being put in a 'choke hold' by an industry approved meat head. There's very little trouble in this league and very little in the way of segregation, so why is this needed at Halifax? My suggestion is that its the industry approved meat heads who heightened tensions so much that it lead to a altercation between two sets of fans. Also the Corby fan wasn't ejected for using abusive language, he was ejected because the meat heads felt like it. My only surprise is that it's taking them this long to get their story straight, proof that steroids don't increase brain capacity[/i

| From town fan site, seems I'm not the only one who isn't too keen on these people
[iThat article is typical Courier e - basically a load of .
Surely we can employ anyone but these thugs in suits. [/i
[iI don't think fans need to be segregated at all. Maybe if a team is going to bring 200 or so down, or its a cup game, but as a general rule, teams like Colwyn, Bishops, Histon etc... are going to rarely bring more than double figures.
It seems this firm of thugs are trying to justify throwing people out and acting like dicks, and talk themselves in to having a purpose. If we must have extra security/stewards at the Shay then so be it, but surely we don't have to use a company that has such a history of being overly aggressive, nasty and thuggish. The amount of criticism that they have come in for, not just at the football, but in how they run every event they are involved in, should be a massive red flag to those at the club. WE DONT WANT THESE THUGS IN OUR GROUND. Employ another firm please.
Its bad enough we have the thiefs running the East Stand food, nevermind having to put up with these tw&s as well[/i

| It's a shame that they did'nt throw McDermot & O'Connor out during the Widnes game for being a pair
of patronising gits.

I sense you have some issues with doorstaff in general mate...
I know the firm and the lads you are talking about. In fact I worked for them for several years and in the most part they are a good bunch of lads, paid to do a thankless and hard job. One that 90% + couldn't and/or wouldn't do.
I too am "effectively a nightclub doormen". To generalise in the way you have been says to me you have very little understanding about what your talking about...

I work Leeds and felt offended by the comments. We are not all bad (or on steroids!), I'm a really nice bloke I am.

| My husband is a nightclub doorman and both of us were offended by this post.
I know the 'meatheads/bouncers/nightclub bouncers' personally and can say they are nothing like what is being wrote about them.
In fact last weekend 34 doormen from the Acca & DS Security played each other in a charity football match raising money for my husband doing the Great North Run for Starlight Childrens Foundation. Many had worked till 6am in the morning, played the match at lunchtime and then went to steward at The Shay in the afternoon before working again that evening......... So far from the picture that Jeff Vickers is posting of these Gents.
I am a Bulls supporter but have friends that play at Fax and from what I have heard and witnessed at matches you need a proper security firm instead of the useless stewards that cant control anything. The language at The Shay is far worse than ive heard in many rugby grounds especially when there are so many children present so I think its a good thing having DS Security there.
And for the record not every doorman or big guy takes steroids.......some people just train hard and work hard
