Only if the club have informed the players that they are not being offered contracts for next season. Then the players/agents are free to arrange contracts for next season. Any other situation sould be a breach.
Unless Halifax have told Ben Black that they will not be offering him a contract, then at this moment in time he is not allowed to talk to any other team until September 1st. Even if he has talked to another team it would be unwise to inform anyone of this so that word could get out that you have!
That's why it is unlikely to be true because Championship teams don't have to submit contract details to players until 9th September regarding next season. Therefore it's highly unlikely that Halifax have told him anything and even less likely that he's spoken to Widnes and arranged anything so a fan can blow the whistle on his own team. |

Ben has had an operation on his knee and is out for around 3 weeks, so maybe he`s had that injury for a while. Lets hope he can come back to form for the run in.

The other alternative would be that Widnes have paid a fee to sign him (they're not exactly short of cash) but will allow him to remain with 'Fax until the end of the season. |

Hmmm, I can't see Widnes being that stupid.
It just sounds like a strange thing to tell a fan when you know they won't keep their mouths shut. Plus what about all those poor Widnes fans that pay to get news before anyone else in the world. I think they'd be upset if they haven't heard it first!

In what sense? In the sense that if true the Vikings are showing very little ambition or in the sense that people are looking further in to something that is clearly not true?
Like normally in this situation i would be thinking what players we could sign from Widnes that they dont take in to SL. In reality though its probably none and i would be more interested in seeing which players are leaving Barrow.
