So Matt Calland has now left Halifax after 5 years. What a roller coaster of a ride those 5 years have been. Regardless of what people might feel about his coaching style and in particular issues of defence, Matt has brought an attacking flair to our team which has sent a constant buzz around the town and he is to be commended for that. Don’t ever forget where we were when he arrived as a rookie. No doubt Matt has made mistakes as we all do in life and maybe he would have made more appropriate decision if he could have had the time again. Regardless of this, we have been to 3 major finals during his tenure, winning last year’s Grand Final in spectacular fashion. I just want to say thank you Matt for all your hard work and for the great memories you have left us “Fax” fans with. Good luck also in your future career. Please don’t knock the man who gave us so much.

As has been mentioned would be great to get a big Callands Barmy Army chant going Sunday and get it recorded and uploaded. A big round of applause after the chant as well would be good.

The last five years have seen the club transformed from scraping play off wins against York at the wrong end of the table to our being the most successful team in the Championship.

Our match away to Cas in the Challenge Cup 2 years ago was the most exciting performance I have seen from Fax in 25 years. Followed closely by the Grand Final win over Fev. And then the semi final win over Fev....I could name several more

We have been by far the most entertaining team in the Championship.

I for one am disappointed to see Matt go. I thought the way he conducted himself in the Sky interview after defeat last Sunday reflected extremely well on both him and the club.

Whoever takes over, I really hope we don't curb the attacking style that Matt has introduced. As Barrie McDermott said in the semi final win over Fev, even if there's only a 30% chance of it coming off, Fax will still throw the ball. Yes we conceded too many tries, but I'll look back over the last 5 years as the most enjoyable times since the Brook/Anderson era.
