| Don't get yer hopes up for it being any brighter this year folks. I believe we've employed the same contractors that did your East Stand.

Ok then Freddie, if you wanna play like that...
That'll be the councils new stand that you lot rent coz your club was incapable of managing itself competently and you fans were too fickle to stand by their club and dig deep when the going got tough to keep it in business.
Yeh thats the stand I am on about...
I have to say I am surprised by the jibes of fans from yourself, Leigh and Widnes when you crow about how good "your" stadium is. ITS NOT YOURS! Sheffield don't do it, why do you lot?
It affords your club no credit whatsoever, the people who desrve credit are the tax payers of Calderdale who paid to house the 2 failed sports teams in Halifax, 90% of whom never set foot inside the place.
Your stadium is not a symbol of your success, its a massive concrete reminder of your failures as a club and as fans!
Get that up ye!

Very poor comebacks gentlemen.
I didn't start it at all, I was happy to enjoy a bit of friendly banter at my own clubs expense initially.
As for you a.n Other.
Our ground, as rundown as it is, represents the fact that the Barrow club has a continuous history stretching back to its formation in 1875. It represents the fact that the club has always conducted its financial business with integrity, always paying its creditors and not spending what it couldn't afford. It has managed its finances through some very difficult times for the club, the town and the whole economy and done it without going bankrupt.
Having achieved that, what do we hear from the RFL and clubs like yourselves, "you have no chance of getting into SL because your grounds a dump".

I think you summed it up with your last paragraph. You can have as much history and tradition as you want, but all it serves to do is keep you where you are. The saying "if you always do what you always did you will always have what you always had" comes to mind. I am afraid that history means diddly squat to the expansionsists at Red Hall.
Now before you come back, even with our completed stadium (by the way we are not the only club in rugby league who rents space in a stadium) we dont have much chance of a superleague franchise in 2012, but I think we are better placed for the 2015 applications.

| I agree with you Spanishbob. I don't have an axe to grind with Fax or any club regarding their stadia, I accept that ours requires a massive investment and even then I have my doubts it would meet the criteria set out by the SL.
In Barrow's case they need to do the sums and decide whether Craven Park is an asset worth investing in or a millstone around our necks. Should it be the latter, we need to have some serious talks with Barrow football and any other potential partners to discuss our options wrt a new facility.
As for franchise applications, I hope Barrow don't bother with 2012. Regardless of the ground, there are far more important criteria that isn't listed by the RFL and for us in particular its the infrastructure within the club to realise the revenues a SL franchise could provide. I still haven't managed to get this seasons away strip from the club shop and had to wait weeks for the kids shirts!!!

| As a supporter of rugby league.Barrow is my favourite away stadium. You can move round to the other end, unless SKY are there! You can stand up if you like. There is easy access to beer, which you can drink anywhere. You can have a weeze on a fag if required and I have found the supporters there to be a most friendly bunch of folk whom I have had the fortune of meeting on my awayday travels in the last few years.
My only question is that,if I do finish work early on that thursday will I be able to move to the other end at half time or will SKY stop me from doing this yet again? The same as happened in the play offs last year.
I actually like the stadiums where there is freedom of movement and common sense instead of Elf and Safety, etc.Dewsbury being a prime example.
It would be nice if we could move round at The Shay as we only get 2000 like Barrow and not 5 or 10000.
Plus if I go up will I be on my own or not.Maybe there will be 50 or 100 of us?

| For the Sky games last season it WAS possible to change ends - albeit in a very roundabout way.
As long as the H&S bods haven't changed their tune, if you climb the steps at one end of the Grandstand, walk right across to the other end of the stand and then down the other side - viola !!

Viola?
Lovely, a tenor violin solo recital at half-time. I'll be there for that.

| According to the latest blog issued by Mr Fax, although the game has been advertised on the Sky website, neither club have yet agreed to the switch!
Although, the RFL are involved so they will do as Sky requeat Im sure no matter what the clubs want to do.
