| Fax fan from birth till the end. If for whatever reason Fax ceased to exist I'd be a neutral, or emigrate to Aus and follow the Bulldogs

| I'd always supported my ex at Rugby Union but having gone to Thrum Hall to watch Fax play Australia many years ago I was completely hooked and never looked back. I wouldn't dream of switching ends. I watch other teams of course on the telly just like everyone else but would never "support" them like my home town team. I think if your a loyal fan then you support your club through good and bad times.
I think thats what the people upstairs dont understand when they start talking of merging teams in local proximity to each other. Can you imagine Bradfax or Huddfax I don't think so, do you!!!!!

| Fax fan through thick and thin. We may not be in SL ever again but I will always support Fax before anybody else. I like the Storm, Broncos and Cowboys but not to the same degree as Fax. My Dad took me when I was 7 and then went to many games throughout my childhood-even though my Dad is a sportsfan rather than a League fan.
As for the game I love the game just as much as Fax. I like to see the game grow but not at all costs. I want to see the development of the game properly throughout the world. Why should this great game be confined to just a few people?
Soccer-Hate it with its money, Spoilt brat players, and the way people have jumped on the Bandwagon for the WC. The hype it gets is ridculous. I was the first person to be born in Halifax or even Yorkshire in my Family, I went to the odd Town game as a youngster but found it boring and never got in to Town or soccer. I feel I have no alliegance to Town, just because I was born in Halifax. I support no other Soccer team and do not even watch the WC.
Union-I was banned before 1996. I know others who had records from their time in Union erased. I have seen Union people try and stop League taking off around the UK and Europe. I remember the French Union bribing Town Officials so the French RL could not find a stadium to play in. I hate the Sport both because of its History towards League and also the way the Media overhype it and the old Schools connection help them out-RBS sponsoring the sick Nations for 20 Million a day before it said it needed help for example. I also find it boring as hell. Its either stuck under a load of forwards or hoofed anywhere. No Skill, No Flair. I hope Union Clubs struggle due to what they have done to League. Bitter? Probably but then I feel what Union has done in the past and even now a disgrace. So if the local Union clubs struggle I do not care

| Interesting topic Jonnie, well posted! Dont think i could ever truely support any team if Fax were not around but i do have a soft spot for Batley having worked there for 5 years. I also like Cas to do well as i think they are similar to us in the sense that its usually only people from that area that support them where as you always see fickle folk with Bradford, Leeds and Wigan shirts on . I currently work in Bradford and get no end of stick for being a Fax fan. Not really interested in football but i always want Town to win.

When Germany invaded France in 1940 the French Vichy Government at the behest of the FRU made Rugby League illegal as a "corrupter of youth". Nice people not

| What about when word was we were to merge with Huddersfield (that is, they would have taken our players to the then McAlpine)? I have to admit, I did consider having to move my alligence. If such a thing were to happen now I'd probably go and watch an amatuer team.

I have seen Union people stop people playing in a League game 2 minutes before Kick Off by threatening to Ban them for life from ever playing Union again. I know the Irish had problems with Union people a couple of years ago saying to its players that Rugby League does not have proper insurance and is an illegal Sport. I know France has seen major problems from Unionites. In Wales, the former Welsh Union Forward Mark Ring told me that Union threaten youngsters, by saying if they play League, they will not be ever to play for Wales in Union. This is all verbal so as not to break any laws.Serbia, Germany, Ireland, Wales etc have all and still suffer from Union. There are decent people in Union but its the people running Clubs and Union in Nations that are the problem.

Correct, he's also made the jump from Yorkshire to Lancashire, he was heartbroken at first but has seen the light since, he would never go back to 'last of the summer wine land now'.

I once had a conversation with a woman who was tracing her family tree, her father when younger had played for Bradford and she was born and brought up there but her father was Welsh. She took a trip down to the club he had first played for in Wales and in the club house was a team picture with her fathers face obliterated this upset her greatly as she had no idea of the animosity that they held against players who turned to league. She asked someone in the clubhouse why his face had been wiped out and they said it had been done a long time previous and couldn`t be now put right.I did not see the lady in question again but she did say she was not going to let it rest and was writing to the club over it.I often wonder what hapened ,probably nothing.

There's a lot of animosity towards League from Rugby Union in Wales, Mike Stephenson (Stevo) mentioned in his column in the lague express how he was once asked to leave a pub (in south wales, think it may have been swansea) despite having been in there a couple of hours, once someone mentioned to the landlord that he was a rugby league player. That was many years ago though.
Didnt some Union players often have trials at league clubs as "A N Other" or under other false names so not to be banned from Union?

| Interesting thread! I got into the Sport as a St Helens fan! My Grandad used to watch all there games on tele so i'd just sit in with him and then also Paul Wellens brother worked at my primary school which though in Rainhill about 10mins from Saints was just Footy, footy, footy but he had some Rugby sessions and brought Saints coaches in a few times as well which was great!
Though i'd never been a live game and when started playing the sport in high school (Widnes, where have lived since was about 1/2 anyway so hometown for me) a few lads some of whoom playing now in the Championships asked me to go watch the Vikings and then that stuck and now go most games home & away and Widnes is a way of life for me!
Funnily enough out of the initial group of about 15-20 lads I used to go with there's only me left now
Still watch Saints in SL as a bit of a fan and have been Knowsley Road a few time like but nothing major! And when Widnes played against them I was giving it my all for the men in Black & White!
