| Sorry but after a great result and performance by the team last night I am delighted we are in the final.
If we had lost I would have expected him to go.
Hall is the man behind the team and there are still a lot of people not convinced. I hope he leads us to glory in Warrington but a lot of long standing supporters are still not sure of his man management or his tactical coaching ability.

| i would say that Calland is made of sterner stuff than you suggest - as for many doubters out there - you seem to be in a minority of one at the moment my old china - now does us all a favour and dry up

| Just an opinion Harry. Shared by more people than perhaps you are aware.
One good result after some pretty shambolic ones does not turn the man into some sort of demi-god.
The players did him proud last night but it was last chance saloon stuff for both coach and team.
Lot of rose tinted glasses around me thinks.
Would love to see Dave Larder going on into the coaching set up.
Strikes me as a lot brighter individual.

| what so Dave Larder instead of Calland? Don't be silly.
I think we all need to put a few of the last games into perspective. Whatever happens in the final we have come further than any other season since relegation from super league, i hardly think that constitutes for getting rid of a coach.
Unless of course we are Chelsea football club?

Chelsea got rid of a manager before he did too much damage to the club, the writing was on the wall - thats not a bad thing if you aim to be sucessful

They have done a lot of chopping and changing though in the last couple of years and it hasn't led to them winning everything has it.
Anyway the point being Calland in for me, and i certainly don't think Calland is damaging our club...if that is what you were suggesting (not assuming you were)

| I think you have had a great season and some are over critical. You took cas to the wire in the challenge cup, semi of nr cup,2nd in the league and a grand final.I prefer your success than the nortern rail cup win and 4th in the league. That is disappointment in my eyes.I was expecting widnes to get to grand final and i was not happy. So any domongers here you must be joking.Well done fax you deserve it and been the best team by a country mile.

| Sorry Chinaman but you’re talking out your ****! Calland was doing all the coaching back when Hall was supposedly head Coach. You’re right in that the players did him proud; that’s exactly what they said they were going to do pre match, do it for him as they knew they’d been letting him down. As have some fans with their ignorant drivel and ridiculous demands for his head. He was bright enough to become a qualified teacher and run a successful Youth Academy from which we’ve certainly reaped the rewards with Miles Greenwood, who’s a perfect example of Calland’s sound man management by the way. Fans blow hot and cold, supporters stand by you through thick and thin. I know which I am! The long standing supporters you speak of ( imaginary friends?? lol) should cast their minds back over the past two decades, I’ve had the time of my life watching our revival these past few years and attribute it to Calland’s master plan and leadership. Put your white stick away my old China and enjoy the ride

Then why should 4-5 defeats after 13 very good wins make him a rubbish coach and should be sacked? (to quote many other people)
You can't have it both ways. At the end of the day we finished second and are in our first final for a couple of decades....he's no less a demi-god than an outright god in my eyes..

| I despair, I really do.
Is it true that some of our "supporters" are only happy when the going is thin?
Sometimes i'm ashamed to be a fax fan when I read this stuff.
This ere soldierboy talks sense

| Do some of the 'fans' on here want us to be like Barrow. We could Start calling Michael Steele 'Sir Des J of Halifax', we could then dump Matt Calland after Fax's best season for years, don't forget to keep him on the books, sweeping the terraces or emptying the office bins.
We could then re-instate him a month later when we realise how good he actually has been for us.
GET REAL, Matt has done a wonderful job for this club, as has the rest of the backroom staff. We are not the biggest club, with the most money or the biggest set up to work with, but what we have achieved with the resources we have should be recognised and applauded.
Can some of the doubters on here answer this question?
Who was responsible for a SL player tearing up a 2010 Fax contract and signing up for our biggest rivals for next year?
If you don't know, it was all the negativity that was aimed at the coach and players that was spouted on here over the last few weeks.
We need to get behind this team and support them through thick and thin and make sure the best available players want to be here and not our rivals.

| Lets just rewind to 2004 - 5. How bad was it then? No disrespect meant to anyone pulling on the blue and white but the players we were recruiting then were not in the same class of who we have now. The club and the coaching staff deserve a hell of a lot of credit....oh! and isnt Matt Calland part of that? If it was all a charade Matt wouldnt be there now. We are in the GF on merit and we have a good rookie coach who is learning every week so please get off his back.
Back the team boys and we can go places
