Quote: The Vicar of Widnes "You have lost a couple of games - thats all . You were never going to go unbeaten in what is a very competitive league.

You will top the league and almost certainly make the GF . What makes the league all the more intresting is that no one can say who the opposition will be for certain .

Anyone from Us , Haven ,Fev, Barrow , Toulouse .

Enjoy your team , you should do.

The Vicar'"

We most certainly enjoy our team and we all know we would not go all season without getting beaten .But it`s the way we lost the game that gets my goat, they did not give Fev enough respect.
Someone on another post blamed it on the fact they played last night when they only got back from To-Lose on Mon. Well then why arrange Fri matches then. It was a decent enough crowd but Sundays had been building then they start messing about with days. I am not bothered when we play as long as they are consistant and stick to the same.

Also I agree with everything Claire said disrespect of people from our fans is creeping in .
I felt ashamed last night as 2 Fev supporters with 2 terrified children only age about 5/6 were being goaded into fighting by the bunch of Fax no-hopers. They were furious ,I told them to ignore them and they said
" we have to `cos we have the kids with us , but next time we come we will leave them at home and fetch a few of our mates with us then if they want trouble they can have it."
What has it come to when you hear and see stuff like that. The dozey bunch of Fax fans geting escrted out only looked about 16/17 so I don`t think they would stand a chance if a proper man had a go at them one day some of them are going to get hurt.

It was my first time at the Shay this year as a travelling rovers fan, and from past experiences from fax supporters I was expecting a good reception. When we were promoted from division 2, I got talking to 2 Fax fans who were students in leeds and has a right good crack with them, and they congratulated us at the end, made a really good first impression on me. Last night I was suprised by how many fans came and shook my hand after what must have been a gut wrenching finale to the match. Fax fans coming to fev have alway been amiable also.

I have to say though a few of your lot really let you down last night, and I noticed someone throwing coins at our crowd - they were landing about 3 feet away from a group of children which was poor. All the chanting didnt bother me to be honest, although it did sound arrogant when the 'easy easy easy' chant started after 20 mins! I did keep my little brother in my line of sight at the end of the match on the way out, in case he got caught up in anything, which I have never had to do before. This is not a gripe or a public swipe at fax, I beleive when you get your stadium sorted and the fans are more spread out a lot of thes eproblems will resolve themselves. Good luck for the rest of the season, do us a favour and hammer every team you play and deney them a bonus point, I'd take second in this league any day!

There certainly seems to be an element of `idiot` that seems to be creeping onto the terrace. Not sure if its just young kids watching the game for their first season or regular fans that are getting above their station. Either way i was embarrassed last night by them as i was against Leigh the other week. Of course everyone wants to beat us but we have to accept that and rise above it...we certainly dont need to be getting a reputation for ourselves.

Hey last night and the Widnes one are the only games where we have had this type of rubbish happen, its normally fine but although I am not condoning what happened remember it was a last minute defeat and the fans were mixed with some very happy (Fev) and some hacked off (us).
hope you come on another day when we can show you wre are not THAT bad.

Get a grip soft lad, either that or hope you dont go into SL or your son will never see a game. What happened at the end of the game was crap end of. We hung around until the 2 groups dispersed as it looked like the Fev fans were looking for trouble, couldnt blame them really though, not like it would be a fair fight, a group of grown men against some 12 year old teets. I remember going to places like Hull with my dad when i was young and never had an ounce of trouble because there is a lot more sensible people watch the games than there is idiots. It really is a shame if that is the way you feel.

This is the price we pay for being top of the league all season. We're here to be knocked off - we're everyone's target. When we won 13 matches in a row, people were justifyably cock-a-hoop. Being top means being unpopular, or at least having the perception of being unpopular. It happened to Cas & Hull KR. What will make others more fearful is if we back up our tag with a strong run-in and a GF trophy. I certainly won't be apologising to anyone if that happens. Champions shouldn't be modest - they should shout out loud at how good they are because it's hard work getting there. Perhaps next year we won't say anything until we actually lift the trophy though icon_smile.gif

I agree with Littlerich, we should make some noise about it.

I don't think anyone is complaining about shouting for your team. It's the d1ck head little scrotes in their "Soiled nappies" throwing coins and plastic bottles that annoy away and home fans. They should all be fitted with a tag or branded with a hot iron, so they can not get within 500 yards of the ground. In peril of their nappie being stuffed down their throat. Why don't the fans around them alert the stewards when this happens? or are you happy to go alone with it as long as the away fans don't get involved? The choice seems to be with yourselves.

I was stood down the front at the side of the Fev fans and they were a good bunch, at 18-0 they were hoping it wasn't going to be 40 and I know how happy they were at winning in the end, I've been there myself but I was really disappointed with the 2 beered up nobs who were goading the Fev fans with the bus stop song from the front of the SS, I would have been quite happy to see them down the front after the game, reckon they'd have been taken down a peg or 2. Unfortunately there will only be more of those types as we become more successful, assuming we don't keep choking.

I asked Geoff Butler (as as Stadium Manager stewards are surely his responsibility) when we'd have some Stewards who can control a crowd. His answer was "Our fans are as bad"

that doesnt answer my Question, Had I said our fans had behaved impeccably? Mind you he'd just tried to stop 2 Fev fans getting on the pitch who just walked around him icon_lol.gif

So if the Stadium Manager doesnt see there to be a problem with the stewarding, there obviously Isnt one is there icon_rolleyes.gif

The stewarding at the Shay has been a joke for years. It the complete oppostie to that you see at footy. They get edgy when you stand up in an all seater stadium, these lot do NOTHING. How many times on Friday did supporters from both teams have to physically calm there own fans down or tell them off? It shouldnt get the the stage it does sometimes anyway. Ok, people should act a bit better in public but its competative sport, the end of the week, people are gonna have a few etc etc but it is going to happen, you can brand RL as 'the family sport' all you like, it still goes on.
I think it's getting to the stage were despite on 200 aways fans turning up etc, the Away Stand should just be open for them creating no problems at all.
Personally i don't blame fans for chanting 'easy, easy etc' at 18-0 up. At that stage it was and we didnt know the outcome plus it's a bit o banter innit, everythings banter, it's just some dont rise above it, but that when the stewards wanna stop fans from running to the front of the stand an mouthing off to everyone.

Some people also get a bit stressed when bad things happen for some reason. I think some genuinly thought we'd go the entire season un beaten at home, playing nice rugby, everyone in the stands would be happy and the away fans would just come and go as they do. sport or life isnt like that, things happen, things a lot worse than what we saw on Friday. People need to take stock and chillax a bit about things.

you have to show an element of arrogance when you are on top. It was easy after 20 minutes. At then it got harder and fev soon shut us up.
But isn't that what sport is all about. .Highs and lows.
You got to enjoy success otherwise what's the point.
Should we be perpetually humble? Apologise for being better?
Not make a noise about the highs just because we are so au fait with the lows. When teams and fans rub your noses in it, it is annoying, but also galvanising.
Aussies are the perfect exponents of winning
