How to **** off your players. They may not be the best team, but they are new to the league and top of the table and yet he's still calling them crap

Since he got involved with Barrow RL, we've gone from a team that won just 1 game in 2005, to a team that's been in the top 2 of the Championship for most of the season and in the semi's of the NR Cup.

He's a winner who doesn't tolerate losers or under-performers. Most of the players at the club have been brought in under Des' Chairmanship, so they know exactly what he's like and respect him, as do the fans.

Should be a cracking atmosphere and game on Sunday (hopefully). At least 4 full buses and dozens of cars heading over the Pennines come Sunday.

And a lot of miserable faces on the way back hopefully

No offence but that's laughable. Your current team has been put together in one pre-season and is built on one man's cash which at the end of the day is what you're players a playing for. Take that away and you're back to square one.

I would be very, very wary of this guy. From reading other posts it states that he is into football and is a big Man U fan.

I get the impression that he wants to be the chairman of a top level sports team to boost his obviously sizeable ego. Now, I don't know what he's worth but he would have to be mega-wealthy to buy a Premiership football club but a top level RL club comes a lot cheaper. The thing is though, in RL it isn't just about money because even at the top level players don't earn enough for it to be just about the money. Leeds have always been cash rich but underachieved for years.

It sounds to me like if he doesn't get a rapid return on his investment he will spit his dummy right across the Irish Sea.

I agree that Barrow have turned themselves around and are a surprise package to be at top of Championship right now, but these cmments have been made after a couple of less than impressive performances where you actually won and are still sat atop the league.

What happens if Fax go 3 scores in front this weekend? Will your lads think back to his rant and lift their game or think sod it, the game has gone, and whats the worst he can do to us?

If we beat you and you but you get a bonus point we will go top on points difference. Surely to be joint top is far beyond any pre-season expectations?

I hope its a good game with a great atmosphere, but part of me wants us to run away with it just to see the reaction

Oops I meant Brokeback Mountain. Maybe it will be breakback if this guy legs it from Barrow in the future, which most rich Chairman usually do apart from Ken Davy at Huddersfield and Jack Wilkinson at Salford.

Barrow wont get a franchise in 2 years they have next to no chance, seems to me like he's enjoying the challenge and trying to unsettle Halifax a little. Hopefully Widnes can bypass both of you while you argue like girls.

Your ignorance is breathtaking. Des is BARROW through and through. All he wants is success for Barrow RL - the team he has supported since childhood. He is interested in both rugby and football - is that a crime ??

He has openly stated that he doesn't expect any monetary return on his input - just wants success.

What do you suggest ??? "Sorry Des, but we don't want your money or your time at the club - just in case you do a runner" ???

Regarding the comments from a Widnes fan about not having a chance of a SL license, well, we'll just have to see won't we.

One thing's for sure, we won't be going bust (unlike some) and no-one will be telling us when and where we play our home games.
