The 'Soccer Muppets' are challenging for promotion this season. What are 'Fax challenging for?

Town are challenging but will not get promotion. The crowds will drop again and they will remain in the Pub League forever more. Halifax Town are going nowhere and nothing more than what a large number of the fans deserve. Its a shame on the decent fans that they not only have a poor team that continually fails even at the lowest levels but has such fans that blame everybody but the soccer club and players

My worry is, that while the East Stand will get finished off, the rest of the ground will detioriate furthur.

How many other Council Owned Facilities are on the same downhill slope, schools ect.

If the Town Hall's condition was to get in such a mess, the person in charge of maintinence would surely have their competancy questioned. Same goes for any other council owned building no?

I'd rather have got relegated that way than have been demoted due to the club being so badly run.

What do you suggest though Brew if there isnt the money there to upkeep the Shay as a facility?

We have seen how SST has struggled with its maintenance and since the Council came in they have paid for some of important jobs doing. But they aint going to continue to fund all the works.

Part of me is beginning to realise the Shay is far too big for a club in the lower reaches of the football pyramid and a club in a sport where there is no promotion. Neither club has the potential of attracting crowds which will even half fill the stadium.

Surely water pouring off the roof is a problem, though one that could be resolved by something as simple as clearing the downpipes?

I honestly believe that in a couple of years or so we could see the end of the Skircoat Stand, Its old as it is and will see little or no use once the East Stand is opened.

It aint run by the clubs now its a Council facility and before that a SST facility its a sporting stadium occupiued by 2 tenants called FC halifax Town and Halifax RLFC so whats the clubs got to do with what exists and with running it?
Fact is as soon as anybody mentions MAINTENANCE at the Shay the old chestnut rears its head 'no money'. Rubbish, money was found to sort out issues with the pitch before, ask the Stadium Manager??? Its part of managing a stadium, what you saying we just find money to pay staff wages and do not any money to fund a rolling programme of painting, fixing broken items etc...?
Margaret Wilson brought this up at the SST years ago and NOWT happened because the SST said they had no money?
Come on a few tins of paint does not cost that much.
So a fallpipe pouring water into the back of the South Stand is too expensive to fix also???
I saw water pouring down the terraces from the far side (next to the offices) of the South Stand on Sunday and if not sorted it will cause huge problems, it does not cost much to get that sorted out surely???
It took months before somebody bothered to fix the fallpipe leaking water at the back of the South Stand last year plus does nobody ever bother to clear the guttering on the offices and Skircoat at the Shay???

Well, they don't spend much on the gardening tools as we saw the groundsmen buying them from Home Bargains, Pellon Lane, last season. Can't remember exactly what they bought, but they did buy several gardening items. They may be ok for home use, but not too sure they will last very long for prolonged use at the Shay.

Many of the jobs in the ground don`t need a lot of money so we don`t need that old chestnut again. It`s a matter of "good housekeeping" Like sorting out the triffids, a lick of paint here and there cleaning bird muck off the seats to name a few. Not saying it`s easy at this time of year but when the puffballers have finished thier season and they don`t need to cut the grass every day maybe they could spare some time on other jobs.
It`s a time managment thing surely?

Quote: seanfax "ok fair enough on most of your points, we can end them there,, but for the last one, sorry cant agree, the mud patches are all down to the football in the goal area, i know as i am a goalkeeper and play every saturday, and i know what happens in the goal erea, all goal mouths are like that this time of the year,,,'"

we do do damage in the goal areas but what am saying is that the football has only played 2 games on it in 6 weeks so there must be alternate problems with the pitch.
