RB and everyone as of last week Dave has shown some improvement in as much as he is saying the odd word or two but not very often.
He is switching chanels on the tv but it is unclear how much he is aware of what he is actualy doing.

Terry Wainman who is close friends of David and myself showed Dave the photo that was featured in the Courier a week or so back when they were walking in the Scottish Highlands together.

Dave took the photo and was really looking at it but there was not much expression on his face but he did seem to be aware of who and what it was but it is still early days yet and it is very difficult and sensitive to put into words.

At the moment all everyone can do is hope for the best and not dwell on the worst scenario.

I will be seeing Dave hopefully next weekend and will post back.

Thanks again for all your support and best wishes.

Little tiny steps are better than no steps at all. Thanks for the updates, I'm sure I'm not the only one that still holds this man in my thoughts despite never meeting him.

This is a long slog as we were warned and shows the severity of Dave's injuries and sorry to say the attack.
We must not forget this and more importantly Dave and his future.
We long for the day when Dave hopefully can be fully aware of everything around him and feeling better.

The latest news on David is the most positive (with caution) for some time.

Yesterdays operation was to repair the areas that had to be opened up for the original surgery to remove the blood clots.

This has now been done, the surgeon deciding on another option to a titanium plate being inserted but it went well.

A major leap forward is he is now engaging in intelligent two way conversation he knows who he is speaking to and what about and he knows where he is but he has no idea of how he got there and that subject has not been mentioned at the moment.
His voice is very quite as some time has passed sinced he last used his vocals chords but never has a whisper meant so much to us all as you can imagine.

Other areas of concern are there is one arm and one leg still affected where full use, feeling and movement are yet to be achieved.

Physio is being performed as per the medical staffs judgment and recomendation.
They have started to have him stand up with support which he did do but only for a very short time.
We will have to wait and see what response and progress can be made but every one remains optomistic and positive.

Tuesday of next week will be when i visit him again so i will post again shortly after.
In the meantime if anything significant happens i will let you know as i am in regular contact with his mum and dad.

I know you all will be delighted to hear some cautious positives and thanks again for your support, very much appreciated.

Faxcar: I'd just like to say thank-you for your detailed updates on Dave Singer's recovery, and I'm sure everyone who visits this thread to check on his progress thinks the same. He's come on leaps and bounds since the 'incident', and I breath a sigh of relief at every step of improvement in his condition. Thank-you, again.

It is very difficult to strike a balance on what information to include, on the one hand the seriousness and just how poorly David has been needs to be got across but the more sensative details of his condition need to be carefully considered,as you can all imagine the early days when he was in a coma were very critical and there are a lot of details that will never be spoken of in the public domain.

I have tried to achieve the above and everything i have posted has been spoken about with his parents and the very closest of friends.

The medical staff at all the hospitals have been fantastic and the intial first aid given at the scene by the wives of the Rovers directors can not be spoken of highly enough, the fact that one was a trauma nurse could well have made a vital difference to the outcome.

The progress made in just the last week is like going from night into day but there is still a very long way to go.

I have personally known him since he was a couple of years old my sons and i have spent hours with him playing football, on the moor and at spring hall, we had been with him 2 or 3 times during the course of the game, when we had to change ends after the fire alert i was stood with him for 10 minutes or so waiting to get seated, during that time Dave was saying fair play to Rovers because they had a good lead, that's what he was like and then we got split up.

He's only small in stature but is a strong tough lad is Dave with the heart of a lion and he's going to fight like hell to get back on his feet.

All the support that has been given is like an extra tonic for him and rest assured he his now being told about it.

Thanks again.
