Could have emailed the club rather than wondering aloud on here. But then you were probably justified in presuming the club were in the right.

Despite ShayFax's post leaving the club in hot water and probably costing us many thousands of pounds, they bear no moral responsibility for this.

I was only messing too - not a chance that you're accountable whatsoever. In fact - better it came out now than further down the line with the financial stakes being even higher. I'm surprised no-one else picked up on it from the 16th April onwards.

Ben Seru played for The Army in the Challenge Cup 2/3 years back in the 3rd Round against Oldham.

He was then signed by Oldham and he played in their 4th round tie against Wakefiled against Belle Vue.

Until the Hull fiasco, there weren't actually any written laws for punishment regarding ineligible players except a fine. That is why Hull couldn't be expelled.

I would expect the army aren't a member club therefore rule B4:12 would now apply in the future.

B4:12 A player who plays for a Non Member Club in the Cup cannot in the same Season play for
another Non Member Club in the Cup. A player who has played for a Non Member Club in the
Cup may play for a Member Club in a later round or rounds of the Cup provided that he is on
the Register of that Club at the time set out in B4:9 above.

There's a sub-rule about signing from non-member clubs (The Army). Basically, if they've played for a non-member club in a previous round they can then play for a member club in a later round.

The best argument that Halifax can take to the RFL is Rule B4:8

B4:8 In respect of any Club playing in any Round of the Cup up to and including Round 5, only
players who are correctly registered and eligible to play for that Club under the Rules of the
Competition in which that Club usually competes are eligible to play for that Club in a Cup
Tie.

Under Championship rules Ostick is eligible to play for them in the League, so this badly worded rule above might actually be argued upon as it doesn't directly relate to Rule B4:10. Where Rule B4:9 which deals with the quarter finals and beyond, does stipulate that B4:10 must be adhered too. That's how I would argue the point.
