| Interesting thread this and it has some good posts from all sides of the argument.
I don’t think going dual reg is your lowest point by a long chalk. Cawoods has that dubious honour. Speaking as a Bulls fan I also know that getting the begging buckets out is down there too.
I think it’s a shame you’ve gone down the duel reg route but I expect it’s to do with money rather than any other reasons. If you could afford not to do it you would. Faced with the financials I bet there wasn’t much option. The problem is that it once you’ve dumped your reserve team or academy it’s very difficult to find the money to start it again. Making savings in this way raises a lot of issues and can put a lot of fans off as they see it as becoming a “feeder club”. I can totally see that point of view. Likewise I can see the pragmatic viewpoint too but it’s not as convincing IMO.
What I would say is that I hope your club has a plan whereby this arrangement isn’t going to be long term – if they have then that might placate some people. Dual reg may even turn out to be a success for you but I wouldn’t expect it to be much different to many other arrangements of this type.

| Straight up I'm a Rovers fan.
We're not a rich club as you all know but our owner, Neil Hudgell definitely believes in TGG.
I'd be surprised if we were looking to shaft you on this.
I've not seen much chat about how you might benefit from the link with Gateshead. They have PNG players Mexico, Wabo (who you will know from Hunslet) and possibly of more interest, Lo who could really be something. They also have Beharrell and Sheriff who were pretty near and I think should have been given the opportunity to stay with us.
You will likely get Welham (who is not a development project for us but who should do well in The Championship) and maybe Salter.
I have to admit, I haven't followed The Championship anywhere near as well as I should over the last few years but in some of our youngsters such as Hallett, Essellmont and Gudzek we may be able to compliment your squad.
I'm more than prepared for you guys to pick holes in this and I have the utmost respect for your club, I live locally to Fax and might get along to the occasional game.

| Quote: littlerich "Losing to Cawoods, almost getting relegated AGAIN in 2004, Going cap in hand to RL fans with a bucket appeal; there's far far far worse things have happened than yesterday's announcement. Personally I don't like it. Personally I think it will fizzle out with a whimper after having little or no effect on our overall performance in the next couple of years. For Nat to say that this is the LOWEST point in our 140 year history is THE most ridiculous statement I've ever read. Either he's being a pantomime drama queen or he has no idea of our history whatsoever.
I have no problem at all with people's distaste for this and if people choose to stay away because of it then that's their business. It's their money, it's their choice but when people are making daft statements like the one Nat made then I believe it does a great injustice to those working hard behind the scenes - for nothing, giving up their free time. To say that all this, and what these people are trying to do is the lowest point in our entire history is a complete insult - in my opinion.'"
Good post the thing Fax fans have to accept is that we get a QUARTER of the RL money that Bradford and London get which is £800K, Leigh get £500K and Fev £450K while we get £200k so how do we think our club can compete with that?
Its like Burnley FC trying to compete with Chelsea or Man City in football in reality we are miles behind the other clubs financially, we must try all ways open to us to compete with them as well as Fev and Sheffield who I still see as our main threat to get that 4th spot which if we get it we get into the 'spin dryer' league which will generate more money as we will be playing 4 SL clubs as well as the other top 4 teams and we get a much bigger slice of RL mo ney for 2016 which we can then use to build on an even better team and I think then go for top spot in 2016!

| This is what has been written in this weeks RL press concerning the issue.
Quote. "Richard Marshall believes there will be only positives for the club in their new partnership with SL club HKR.
Part of the deal allows Fax to take dual registration players from the Robins, a move that has attracted criticism from some supporters.
But Marshall says the link will extend beyond that and having worked in a partnership before while at Warrington he insists he is going into it with his eyes open.
Marshall said, We didn't enter into this lightly, it was a decision that was made over several months. Negotiations started before I joined the club, then talks staled while I got the squad going and we reentered then.
There were a couple of other interested parties but this was the best fit for us and from a Halifax point of view it's a win-win. We have access to high quality players both in the juniors and the first team if we need them and the commercial side is very impressive as well and here there will be links with HKR.
Iv'e been involved with dual registration before and seen both sides of the story. I needed to link up with Chris Chester and Willy Poching and I've done that and we spoke about the potential issues and the positives that will come out of it.
I know both well and that's the key, in a working relationship you need that trust element.
We said straight away if anyone had any grievances to speak about them now and we did that and I think it worked well.
End quote and story.

| As a follow up also in this weeks RL press under " Dual reg gets a shake up".
Part quote.
A key part of the structure will be a limit of 5 DR players and 1 loan player per club.
After round 23 of the regular season players will have to commit to either their parent club or guest club.
A pit fall could be that any club who becomes over reliant on these players if they are all recalled by their parent club (which they could be) would leave the guest club facing severe pressure.
End part quote.

It's beyond belief that anyone believes this garbage. January 11th Hull KR v Halifax. How the Fax directors will be able to look their counterparts in the eye is beyond me.

I think our very own Dalesman could have a point here about a takeover, it may already be under way. I popped into Town to get some Christmas Cards this afternoon and every other one had a fookin Robin Red Breast on the front sat there bold as brass on a spade handle. No matter where you were in the shop it's eyes seemed to follow you.....spooky .

This is a very emotive subject and DR is not something I agree with or believe in BUT is it worth losing the club I have supported for around 50 years? No I don't believe it is and so I will continue to support them, in fact I feel that keeping KH would have been an even worse scenario and if he had stayed I could very well have walked away as I felt that there was too much damage being done week in, week out.
HuddShay, you have stated your position and I respect you for that but you will be missing out, hopefully, on a great season for Fax. We can only all wait and see what happens and I do hope RM has the control he says he has.
For now I wish you all a blue and white Christmas and when the red,red Robin comes bob,bob bobbing along we all know what to do!

This. Couldnt get in the Canberra team and finished the season playing for the Mounties on occasion alongside the players we brought in. By all accounts he didnt stand out at that level and will struggle to regain his form after his bad injuries.

Campese is a waste of a player always injured and even when he does play he does very little- no wonder Canberra got rid. Sio is a decent player and Kelly has his injury problems. For me though I would rather see halifax players play for us rather than any HKR players whether they be better than ours or not. Sadly RM has inherited a group of players that KH signed rather than have his say on who he wants which is why I can understand to an extent why we went down the Drs route plus we need to save money
