| Quote: Greg Florimos Boots "Just a note on the ref, I thought it was one of the poorer performances we have seen this season as he constantly baffled fans and players with decisions. They say you can't change a ref's mind but this happened on at least 2 occasions today.'"
A ref's job is thankless, but he did seem to get a few wrong today. They're only human though, and players have poor games just as much as refs do. He handled the game Ok, but just didn't seem to be on top of seeing everything that was going on. He had pretty much zero help from his TJ's.
I've learned over the years that the officials generally get more right than we do with tight decisions. For instance, I was convinced that Ste Tyrer had touched down fine in the corner today, but I'll bet that a video replay will show that the officials got it right (or maybe not!!).
Regarding changing decisions, in the first half we kick and it hits a Batley players leg and goes out of play. It's always a contentious one whether the defending player is making a play at the ball, but generally if they're moving towards the kicker then it's regarded as making a play for the ball. Handover given originally, but then changed to be a scrum to us. I don't get that. It's up to the referee to decide about whether the defender was making a play for the ball. We might not agree with his decision, but what could make him change his mind??

That would be good, but I can't see both of us in the top 4, and it's probably more likely that we both miss out. If we could somehow conjure a win against Leigh next weekend then things change though!
FWIW, I thought the Batley faithful were a bit flat today? They're usually quite vociferous, but from what I heard today they were just having a bit of a moan about their own team?

| Before the kick off, most of us were expecting a 40 point hiding today with our injury list. I don't think any of us really thought we had any hope of winning it.
However, that changed after the first 20 minutes, we thought we were in for a 60+ point hiding instead. Then there was just a glimmer of hope when we scored those 2 tries just after half time. If Walker hadn't dropped that pass, when we on the attack again, and if we could have scored, I thought we might have had you in trouble. As it happened, from the resulting set, you went to the length of the field to score and it was game over.
The ref made a couple of bizarre decisions, but at least he was fair. He's one of the better ones I've seen this year. I thought he was right first time on the charged kick (but I'm not very impartial). I thought the knock on he gave against you, when you were attacking in the second half went backwards. I'd also like to see the try he awarded in the corner for you in the first half, I thought he'd bounced it, but I was a long way away.
The ref didn't cost us the game, we missed far too many one on ones and made too many basic handling errors. You'd far more pace than us and I thought you kept the ball alive really well and scored some great tries. Despite the result and appaling start we had, I didn't think it was a bad game, I'm looking forward to the return fixture.
Johnston impressed me again, every time I see him he looks lively.

| Greg you have never laced a boot in your life and it shows every time you speak . You haven't a clue who is fit or unfit because you have never run anywhere on a field.Go to their try just before half time and what did he do . Salty knock on first half not regaining his composure at play of ball . Forward pass with 2 men on inside and only fullback to beat . Go back to drinking it's about the only thing you have done successfully defended n your life . Greg nobody failure.

Yeah it got a bit nervy for us in the second half and like you say if you had scored again we may have struggled but we seem to be able to hang in with teams this season and that was a game we may have lost in seasons gone by. Agreed with that kick, your player never played that ball in a million years and it was strange after the ref consulted with his touch judge, gave Batley the ball then changed his decision after someone had a word in his ear. As you say he didnt influence the result I just thought he got quite a bit wrong for both teams. By no means the worst Batley performance I have seen and your players had a real dig when they could have easily given up. I felt for your young half back as he were distraught after missing a tackle that lead to pretty much the game breaking try in the second half but he had a lot of old heads around him patting him on the back. It isnt that often we do the double over Batley so nothing is given in the return game.

Im not sure that it is me who needs to lay off the drink.
Obviously you have not liked Salty for a couple of seasons now but anyone with half a clue knows that he did more good for the team yesterday than bad. Oh and I thought it were Tyrer who knocked on before the Batley try before half time although Im open to been proved wrong.

| All Jensen does is moan and criticise the players. If he took a look at the table to see part time Fax in third place above full time Leigh and London and bigger budget Fev, he will feel embarrassed at his constant whinging. Oh, and does anyone know why Will Sharp didn't play? I would have thought he was an "automatic" choice when fit.

I believe he was injured from the Fev game so with Heaton and Woodburn Hall fit it gave us a chance not to risk him and give them two much needed game time.

| Thanks for that and it's a relief to know Sharpy is still committed to Fax (unlike some!)
Actually me and a couple of fellow Fax fans think QLT wasn't that much better than Sharpy at full back (if at all) but he obviously still added something to the team with his quality. But having said that, one of those fellow Fax fans attended his first match for some time when we played Dewsbury and wasn't impressed at all with QLT (he expected him to be more dynamic) but acknowledged his try showed a touch of class.
Hopefully we'll now have some extra cash to sign a "strike" player. Preferably a centre with some pace and passing ability. We have Tyrer who's great in defence, but Barber is definitely better in the 2nd row and would form a great "mobile" partnership with Butler (interchanging with Grixy). Muzza's our leader and Jonno playing really well at the mo so OK in the halves. And best pack we've had for years.

Where did you see this? I have searched the RFL Disciplinary website in vain for news on last week's Summer Bash penalty notices (or otherwise) but nothing there at all and they haven't put them on their Twitter page either. As you suggest the preliminary hearings should have been held towards the end of last week (usually Thursday) but have seen nothing?

Tyrer is on the rugby league.com disciplinary page.
Disciplinary: Match Review Panel.
Disciplinary.
01 June 2018.
When on their page tap on the Black Title above the red disciplinary letters and it will open up those affected, nothing about Gaz Hock.

Ok thanks for that. They have changed the way they announce it then, I was looking at the old disciplinary page.
