I think Gareth Hock had similar terms when he was banned.

Rob is an athlete, I'd be very surprised if he was to let himself fall into an unfit state. I'd expect him to come back fitter and stronger tbh.

Its a shame, but something must have gone off which was against the rules, so hard to argue with it.

Think Rob got off lucky just like the two Batley lads did. Shean Leaf didnt bet on any games that he was involved in and they gave him 18 months. Possibly because the Su* newspaper made a big song and dance about it. But as stated rules are rules but the punishment should not differ that much.

Rob has been stupid and not used his brain. Its hardly the first time this has happened and if unsure he should have asked if it was OK. Good to see the club sticking by him but he owes the club and fans big time for me.

Rob played for Wheatley Hills Rugby Union this weekend against the Crocs- according to the Courier.

I'm guessing that the stakes involved (reputedly "small") were a material factor in a relatively short ban. Albeit that it effectively means the end of the season for Rob. I can't see why he'd not be able to train with the team or take part in the game day activities? Has he just been banned from playing, or is it a more draconian situation. Shame if it is, because he's an enthusiastic guy, and it would still be good to have him round the place. That said, his choice as well to a degree, as I guess he'll not be getting paid.

Hope he comes back fitter, stronger and more enthusiastic than ever next season - for us. Plenty of time to practice catching the ball as well (sorry Rob, if you read this!!).
