Hicks was incredibly inconsistant.

When Wrench got penalised for THE tamest grapple tackle you'll ever see, the next 4 tackles saw 4 MUCH worse grapple tackles without being penalised. If you're going to penalise for something, you've got to keep doing so and thats from a Fax fan about Fax players.

I also thought Divorty(?) was held by Said when he was allowed to play on make 20 more yards and led to a try.

However, our defence was poor, our kick pressure was embarrasing and the better team won, Hicks had minimal impact.

Field, think he let him off because thats the only tackle he's 'broke' all season icon_smile.gif

What peed me off was pushing the player on his back after the tackle was completed. If you can't get the player on his back during the tackle you shouldn't be allowed a second effort. For mine, onnce the player is grounded, he's tackled. It's not a Fev thing, it's a Super League thing (that refs let players get away with) and it's rubbish to watch.

Second, one of the Fev fans mentioned before this match that we tend to surrender tackle a lot. That's all I saw from Fev last last, reverse in to the tackle and the player drops to knees if he can't get the ball away. Is that not a surrender tackle?

Towards the end I think we knew we were beaten and there weren't any points at stake so slowed as a result. As Haighy said, we didn't defend as well and result was probably just.

To me the refs hardly ever call the surrender tackle in this league. it sometimes makse you wonder whther we are playing different rules to SL. Batley away in the 2nd half was the worse when they were coming down the hill, going to their knees, getting up to play the ball quickly and then we were getting pinned for off-side.

Whether the ref was right or wrong, I think this generally annoys the fans the most, the inconsistency of decisions.

What goes around comes around.

Quote: spanishbob "Go on then. I will. I have just watched it on the tv and frank does have his arm around the players back, but if you look carefully its a loose ARM and certainly not enough to stop the player rolling away or getting up.

The very next tackle Tonks (i'll resist calling him a fat thugs, because I don't think he is) has his arm around the tackled in almost an identical place. Tonks even still had his arm around his head when he played the ball.

The only difference was that Larder wasn't smart enough to lay on him claiming to be held down.

Oh and the resultant try followed a knock on missed by hicks.

No sour grapes, just observation, we were clearly beaten by a better drilled side, who always make better use of their hillside pitch than we do.

I would like to say we now owe them one, on the big stage, but our focus needs to be next week.'"

Ay up mate who you talking to "FAIR LADS" Watene is that dumb he doesnt even know how to con a ref, he blatantly had his arm over the players back holding him dow for all the world to see, he may as well had a big sign in the other hand with look at me hicks wrote on it. most normal folk who try to con a ref put the hand away from the ref under the player on tops chest and pull the shirt. The man is a liability and he and Tamghart are the worst forwards in this division. Yes we make better use of the hillside pitch but we also made better use of HALIFAX COUNCILS SHAY wembley type pitch didnt we

Admitting you're masters at coning the ref. Brilliant. I have to admit you weren't holding on to the shirts on the floor last night as much our past encounter at our gaff. What's the deal with the leg throws as well. Close to judo throws, wouldn't you say?

If you want to slag off our ground and players, go and do it on your own board.

Woosh. You totally missed the point. Frank didn't hold him down, yes he did have his arm around him, exactly the same as Tonks did in the very next tackle, but on that occasion larder got up like your player could have done.

On the subject of the slope I never said anything about the game at the shay, although on that occasion you didn't win by 30 and given the rub of the green it could have gone either way.

What I have said all along is that fev were and have been the better side on 3 meetings this year and you certainly handle the slope better than we do, and so you should its your home pitch.

I certainly don't count any chickens, but I would love the chance to go to Warrington and put one over the smug at!#$$% (no I'll stop there).

Tonks is the hardest 3rd man into tackles in our league.

yeh yeh yeh!!!!!

What a load o' cak!

At least be objective. He and stu have been the 2 most consistent props in the league this season. Lucky to stay injury free I know, but really, what a daft comment to make!
Your posts are generally more analytical than that!!

I will give you Dickens. The amount of work he does and the time he stays on the pitch is incredible. I have no time for Tonks.. Seen him 4 times this year against Fax and Batley and my opinion sticks. Ball in hand he is rough and tough, defensively he gets away with a lot of the bad stuff!

I've seen him in all but one games this season and I'm 50 now - I did all that blue n white tinted specs stuff decades ago!!

So, in that case my rugby watching correspondent -on this one at least, we'll agree to disagree!
