To be fair though - the bonus point isn't going to affect us this season. Bonus points are only awarded to losers. We don't fall into that category. Bonus points are for other clubs to worry about.

There also maybe a scenario, in the world of eternal cynics, where at the business end of the season, a team could be beating another team by 16 points, yet it maybe advantageous for the winning team to see the team they are beating get a bonus point, so the winning team could get a better run in the playoffs.

If I remember rightly we didn't get 3 points either. Excellent idea the bonus rule ... I even reckon it should be modified to take into account WHEN tries are scored. Eg a try in the second minute should be worth more than a try in the 20th minute. (say 5 points as opposed to 4 points?). This will reward teams for starting strongly and punish those who don't. Likewise tries in the last 10 minutes should be worth 5 points. Also conversions for tries scored out wide should be worth 3 points because they're more hard. |

Actually Tony - got to admit - that scenario does sound quite exciting but the traditionalists won't have any of it. It's a bit fanciful i fear. |
