Good....can take Scott Grix with him-error strewn/inconsistant/unreliable performances typify what we've been about all year-he was supposably here to set a proper example.....

Would be good to get Hirst signed up before Bradford get their signing suspension lifted but yeah totally agree about Grix. Ive seen him have one good game since he signed.

Aye last thing we need after this season is a forward making yards and hitting his front.

We did last 2 games. He's already had a better season than a couple of our props.

But he hasn't, has he? A couple of rumbles forward against Sheffield and he's a hero to some. I just don't get it. Perhaps he'll get winning pay at 3rd time of asking against Rochdale. I won't hold my breath. There's a reason he couldn't hold down his place in a poor Wakefield side. If we want to carry on next season like this, sign players like Hirst. We need young hungry lads, not swapping like for like players wandering around clubs at the back end of their careers. Saying that I wouldn't mind getting one last season out of Ben Westwood. Lol!

| Hirst as put in some fine performances within one of the most physical packs in Super League.
I've seen him play when not on sky and believe me he is a honest player who gives 100% .
I don't get the mentality at times of some posters not just us on fax but Widnes,Leigh and more so Bulls, This is championship rugby we play and yes whilst we chase SL in the current economic climate the main aim is to stay afloat. So we need to get used to players who are willing to do a job and have the experience but maybe at times need to prove a point or are at the Autumn of their careers.
The alternative of course is giving rookies a shout and again that means opening up a new wage . Halifax have had league wise a very disappointing season but it may well have been a disaster if tones of money had been pumped in to a gamble.
In the next 5/10 years I can sadly see some big names , founder member clubs go under because they bet on it all on black or red .
So to cut this post short, don't expect a grand final or promotion in 2020 or 21 but expect us to be consistent and in no danger of going the same way as the dinosaurs. Maybe the Bulls should take note

Well said. If we are not in the running to sign a player of Hirst quality(A very good championship prop) then the alternative is quite grim. Some people get something in their heads totally devoid of reality and just run with it. Another example been on the Leigh board where Kevin Brown is not good enough for them.

Looks that way with Hudds-Shay on Hirst. Hirst's performance against Sheffield outshone everything we've seen from Tangata so a good swap so far. And to argue his failure to hold a place in Wakefield's team is strickly not correct as he was being included, and that argument would hold for ALL champsionship players not in SL anyway!

| I would expect every player to 'be honest and give 100%'. It's all about opinions but the one that counts is Simon Grix's. We need to change most of the team as coming in the bottom half of the 2nd division is just not good enough. I would go down the youth route with a few older heads but who they are is open to debate. Muttley Cat has a valid point though about the make up of the Championship as I too believe we will see the demise of some clubs over the next few years, indeed you could say that some of them have actually voted for such a scenario. That said, if a club is happy to plod along in the 2nd division they could well be drawn into the road downwards. Fax as a club must show ambition otherwise we are never going to get back to the top table. If some people are satisfied with that, fair enough. I'm not. Up The Fax!

I didn't go to Swinton, Beau, was he bad?
On the subject of some clubs maybe going under. I fear for the future. I've said this for some time now, but paying £19 to watch a championship club is way way way too much, infact compared to alternative entertainment it should be no more than a tenner. I guess that the vast majority of exisiting speccies are "old" fans (not necessarily in terms of age) who will continue to watch with a gradual decrease in attendances as we all die off until "non sustainability" is reached.

Took him all of one game to blend in with the annonymous lacklustre efforts of the rest--Brandon Moore excepted.According to Grix though we go to a game with Swinton Lions with absolutely no confidence....has it really become that bad..? forgetting the team morale and most of them should be leaving anyway,Hirst has 4 games to secure a contract,so i'd be expecting his gut busting best efforts...
