| Quote: HXSparky "Why would Championship clubs pay for a SL player to get some valuable game time (for the player) with them? Sorry, but if any Championship clubs are actually paying for the privilege of providing a training ground for SL club players then they're bonkers. The SL clubs should be paying the Championship club for providing the means for their player to develop.
If what you suggest is true (that the Championship clubs need to pay for DR players (if only their wages), then the whole 2nd tier is missing a trick and needs to join forces to work out a fair and equitable deal. The benefit to the SL team is far greater than the temporary (and often lacklustre performance) that the arrangement provides, and the financial rewards should reflect this!!!'"
Looking at the Operational Rules it does appear that things have changed and the 'junior' partner does now pay for the privilege (at a rate agreed between the 2 clubs involved?) which is then included in their cap spend. When first introduced players were given a notional cap value (based on salary bands) which was added to the 'junior' club's cap spend. Clearly the SL clubs were losing out on these DR deals..........

| Ah well, all the more reason for the "recipient" club to make sure they only take DR players that they really need. I've had a look at the operational rules, which states that the "home" club for the DR player remains responsible for paying the player, but that they can invoice the recipient club to recover costs to an "agreed value". I guess that the default may be to pay the DR players wages and travel expenses, but still down to individual negotiation.

| Absolute madness. So we have to pay super league clubs because they can’t afford reserve teams. Crazy.
And what if a cas player plays for our reserves? Will we still be expected to pay?
The sooner the clowns ruining our sport and bending over backwards with their super league goggles on are gone the better. Time is running out though I fear

| The same concerns were said when it was HKR, they were going to own us, pick the team and dictate etc etc and it didn't happen and it didn't last.
The same concerns were said when it was Salford, they were going to own us, pick the team and dictate etc etc and it didn't happen and it didn't last.
The same concerns are being said now with Cas, they are going to own us, pick the team and dictate etc etc.
Who on here actually knows what arrangements Fax have agreed or are yet to agree with Cas and yet without any knowledge it always gets interpreted the same way.
The facts are, the Fax BOD and coach, who, along with their Cas counterparts are the only ones who know what the agreements are, and yet somehow after investing time, money and all the hours of hard work etc, are at the same time signing up to something that would be detrimental to themselves and the club.
Now that is something you couldn't write, it really is.
What is actually going on?
A good topic for the next open Q & A session if there is to be one.
The whole DR arrangement should be scrapped but it must be done by everyone.
Otherwise, It's pi##ing down outside and everybody else is wearing raincoats and using brollies but I hate rain so I'm not going to mentality, when getting wet amounts to getting drowned.

| Batley coach Matt Diskin didn't seem too happy about D/R with Cas last season re his Quote in League Express he described the partnership as very one sided " As very one sided " saying the link with the Tigers didn't work when Batley needed it most.
Well we will see how it pans out one player we will not be getting is Gary Lo who will be going back to Sheffield when he is not needed

Unlikely that will happen because of the rules surrounding Loans. It will be more convenient for Cas to have him available to us on a weekly basis rather than him having to go out on loan for a month. I suspect he will get some game time to start with in Cas first team and they will see how he goes from there. As we have seen he is very good with ball in hand but is all over the place defensively so he will need lots of work in that area.

| They said in the press statement when he signed for Cas, there is an arrangement in place so he can play at Sheffield when he is not needed by Cas. This entire thing makes an absolute mockery of the game.

| Interesting reading this. Can't believe championship clubs are paying anything at all for the players they get via dual reg. Afraid I'm very much on the Hudd-Shay side of the argument when it comes to DR. It makes a mockery of the game as a whole and devalues the competition. SL clubs should bring back "A" teams if they so keen to give players game time. Championship clubs shouldn't be treated as junior clubs.

RM mentioned season long loans so any players involved would not be on DR terms, my concern is that RM and any deal proves true to his statement.
As GFB said Lo on attack is a threat but on defence is a different story.
Although our back line could do with an injection of pace only Rob has moved on and I would have thought we prioritise the pack regarding loan players.

You wont get many arguing but as a Championship club there is very little we can do about it so we either join them or we get left behind. The problem starts at the top.

It can only be a loan agreement. I doubt that will cut it for Cas unless they feel they have made a mistake signing him after giving him a chance in a few games. I suspect we will take some of their fringe players on season longs and then players who are semi regular first teamers we will get on a week to week basis which you would imagine would be players like Lo, Hitchcock, Douglas, then maybe we can take a look at Trueman as well.

| We are nothing but a feeder team to Cas and this arrangement will only be in the interest of Castleford. We might get the odd DR player but he could be called up by Castleford at any point.
If Garry Lo is allowed to join Sheffield on loan just shows what a cock up the system has become.
My view is we give the youngsters from the reserves a chance and do away with dual reg.
