| Quote Bubba="Bubba"Regardless Siddal should be paying full commercial cost for using the stadium. One of the Siddal chaps argument in the Courier was something along the lines of "How can the Council turn us down when we are in a recession, bla, bla, bla". In other words "they should let us play there and we will happily pay".
I think the press release by Fax is simply embarassing.
If this is the type of support? We are only a year into an East Stand which Calderdale Council decide to allocate funds for to complete when I would guess the majority of the Borough would have probably opposed it. Yet the club are now happy to publicly question the Council's committment?
What is it about Fax and shameful behaviour?'"
Usual rubbish from yourself. Why is it embarrassing? The Council again show how useless they are and poor at organizing things. The club have said so and maybe it will get the Council thinking. How come its OK to have 3 or 4 games at one venue in Cardiff, Warrington, Headingley having 10s of thousands of people in attendance but not 2 games which are likely to struggle to reach 1500? There is no Health & Safety issue and why cant the Council communicate properly with the clubs before making such decisions based on nonsense?
As for shameful behaviour the soccer lot are way in front! If certain people involved at the Soccer club had done jobs properly and built the upgrades with Quality then the Council would not need to finish things off. The Shameful actions of the Soccer club in deliberately getting kicked out of a cup. The Shameful behaviour of the Soccer fans by claiming Fax do not pay rent etc and spreading slanderous rumours?

| I'm sure it's not so much the council, the man who made the call was Gary Byrne with the help of the two groundsmen.

| Quote Bubba="Bubba"I will stick up for Fax on the football forum when appropriate but I cant on this one.
The Council do seem to have dropped a clanger with regards the H&S issue - unless they do come up with some credible reasons. What has annoyed me though is the club questioning the Council's committment. That is what leaves an extremely sour taste in the mouth and does the rugby club no favours at all - certainly not in future relationships with the Council. Bloodyhell, the last thing we want is the Council thinking the two clubs are not greatful for the £5m+ East Stand expense and increasing the rent our clubs pay.
Maybe Fax should have just accepted the original decision?'"
So the clubs must show their gratitude at all times by wringing caps, touching forelocks and capitulating on every issue?
The council have invested a lot of public money in The Shay and, as a council tax payer, I would like to see a return on that investment by maximisation of revenue streams. They are hardly doing that in this instance.

| Quote Bubba="Bubba"The Fax press release (toys out of pram) are not about the Council losing out. Its about the rugby club not getting their own way and claiming the Council do not support the rugby club. Two entirely different things.'"
Ah right - so reading your acidic comments all you're bothered about is putting the boot into the Rugby club. No mention from you of the actual decision - just a diatribe of anti-Halifax RLFC rhetoric.
Don't reply by telling us how you're a fan of the rugby too - it"s a load of crap.
You're pathetic. You should actually apply to work for the Council - you're well matched.

| Quote Fax Machine="Fax Machine"I honestly think that Siddal should now see about shifting the game to the Stobart and moving the Fax game back to 3PM as the kickoff times offered by Calderdale Council are clearly unacceptable and they would get a much bigger crowd for the Siddal game at Widnes. Well done Calderdale, more lost income.
After all the money spent on the Shay you would think that they would cash in on any opportunity to recoup some of it but no, not Calderdale.'"
What a good idea that would stick two fingers up to those at the Coumcil wouldn't it!
Thing is as its a Local Authority and as such this is a PUBLIC service I want to know WHO made this decision, come on stand up by your own ruling I dare you stop hiding behind H&S if it is that?

Just spotted this if so they work for the Council in a Council owned facility and I have got to ask who is their boss?
Who runs the Shay now people wise as I get confused?
Come on why is the management letting two groundsmen run a whole facility? This is a COMMUNITY STADIUM not just a sports pitch.
Is this more about spitting their dummies out of the pram and getting their own back by being bl^^dy minded?
DISGRACE this.

Give this man a big stick for his usual stirrings.
Unbelieveable rubbish this even having a pop at poor old Siddal!
Oh and regards the East Stand that was done as a result of massive public pressure and luckily the CE had it as one of his targets too!
Stadium management means just that you can make management decisions including what you charge.

| I see the romance of the challenge cup is dead & buried even at the 3rd round stage. Not that I'm a supporter of the Siddal club, although I do have a son who plays for their under 16's team currently, but why has nobody considered their side of things.
It's Siddal's home tie, so make Widnes come & play at Chevinedge. The facilities there are as good as let's say what Oldham or Swinton or South Wales have offered over the past few seasons. I hear that Widnes were been a little bit awkward from the onset, insisting on playing at their home stadium and giving a one-off payment to Siddal. Also, I'm not sure how many junior fixtures they have scheduled in for the challenge cup day, but would they wish to cancel those fixtures to maximise their support, and the week after, the under 16's are playing in the Yorkshire cup final versus Hunslet boys, I'm sure they need to play next weekend to prepare for their big day out too.
Good old professional rugby league, another joke story.
