Because whether the club knew or not, the RFL's checks didn't pick up on it quick enough.

Which is another facet to this whole scenario. The RFL are seemingly run just as badly having this happen twice in three years. They really need to look in-house at their procedure to stop this happening again.

If the club knew it should have acted professionally by approaching the RFL immediately over the matter to prevent disappointing fans 2 hours before kick off. Or even worse, allowing 3000 followers to waste hard earned cash to watch a game that would end up null and void anyway.

I always heard that Clay was only at Fax to further enhance his position within the game so that he could move on to bigger things. Wasnt the embarassing 'Destination Superleague', which appeared at a number of clubs, something he introduced through his own marketing company?
