| Browny's kicking will be class behind a big pack, but don't expect him to
take the line on or actually get tackled with the ball, will stand out easily
due to a completely clean shirt after 80 minutes
Johno - small, but quick, you've got a really good lad there

| People have b!tched about how much we need a pacey half back... We go get one and people still complain...
Alongside that we sign the player with the best kicking game in the league and people still complain...

| Its all well and good having a Kicking Game, But Murrell does that fantastically already, We are short of someone who is willing to ask questions and take on the line and put people through gaps. I will reserve judgement on these signings. from the courier article it sounds as though we are in for another season of chopping and changing in key positions again rather than getting a team well gelled and with backup in vital positions in case of injuries.
Still its early days in the silly season, I await the BIG signing we all crave with baited breathe.

| I'll reserve judgement until the seasons started however I feel you start signing players from lower league clubs then you become a lower league club yourself.
Im sure Brown looked good in that Sheffield team, I'd look good with that backline they have.
Ive heard Mannell (spelling) is a solid tackling machine, we have a pack to do that, we need some zip, we have an organiser and passer and pivot in Murrell. We need players who make the defence think. I do hope we have a few oh he's a good un type signings or I fear for the sales of season tickets.
Mind you we don't actually have a passing game even Karl admitted that when he said all 3 of our ball handlers cant pass a ball fast.

| Simon Brown is an excellent player, I'd happily have him back in the Eagles team.

| Jury's out as always with me. As Stevo says - gotta give the benefit of doubt
I always remember when we signed Ben Black and Luke Branighan. Everyone said who???? I remember when we offloaded Brambani and thinking - great, he was ordinary. Now look at him - playing in his third GF in a row. If we're stood on mediocre street in June 2014 then that's the time to pipe up and doomsay but bagging signings before they've pulled on a shirt? Classy.

| Hardly big names that will send a message out but then sometimes you get a unknown like Johnston with something to prove who could be a bargain signing. Never seen him play so cant comment. With his speed I hope he looks to take the line on and also has the ability to break a defence down. Will be interesting.
Simon Brown-Decent player but was poor last year and what was he thinking why he signing for York? Has a good kicking game so we shall see. Hope we have a backup half and I dont mean Murrell or Bowmen!
Personally I would like 2 Halfbacks who are quick both in mind and fast on their feet who are not afraid of running with the ball and are prepaid to take a calculated risk or two. Johnston could be in that mould. Brown is not but am prepared to see how he goes before saying whether he is a good or not so good.

| Brown will do a good job for you, he was excellent for Sheffield. I wouldn't judge him on last seasons displays, Ellery Hanley wouldn't have shone under such a dreadful coach.

Pretty much this.
This is sport, people are entitled to have an opinion over who their team signs. Like I briefly mentioned the thing that worries me is it does not even sound like KH wanted to sign these players if their were other options available. Also his we want 6 or 7 options at half back and hooker thoughts do concern me. You look at the best teams in the division, they do not have these options they have a pretty settled 6, 7, and 9 but it seems to me Harrison really does not know who to sign so in signing a lot of players for those positions he is hoping that one combination of them works which will obviously take a lot of game time to find out. I guess like our first season with Handforth and Thackery. Those positions really need to be where the team is most settled and that simply isnt going to happen for part of the season.
Both players are probably ok but imo we should be aiming for better, we have a quota spot available, that should be looked at. At the end of the day we have signed 2 players that helped York to relegation, not exactly the signings that will put bums on seats. I for one think unless we can come up with a big name signing for this level then the club will have when of the worst seasons in many years when it comes to season ticket sales. The knock on effect wont be that we are challenging the top 2 teams next year when we probably should be, it will be a case of we are struggling to stay in the top 4.
I hope I am wrong but I wasnt wrong on the signings last year and I will give my opinion on them.

Do you honestly believe we will "struggle to be in the top four"

| It will be interesting to see who kicks in general play Brown or Murrell? Not seen johnston play but by all accounts he looks a good prospect.
