Perhaps if you had listened to PC’s reply to Eddie’s inability to comprehend the reason for the bonus point, you would have understood what PC meant. Sometimes when a team is beaten they just accept it and fold, with nowt left to play for. Players may see getting to within 12 points as achievable, and fight until the end for that. Thus avoiding embarrassing and woeful games like the Warrington v Salford game, on which they were commenting.

I'm with you on this. It seems that the Championship Leagues have been used for this experiment for too long without any resultant opinion being voiced as to its success or failure. Or, is it just that the SL clubs have said no chance, end of?

Possibly.

And, if that is the case, that should be the end of it in the Championship too.

After all, it has been said many a time; "the bonus point is a reward for failure no matter how you dress it up".

There are arguments and counter arguments. It certainly plays a huge part in the position of clubs in the league.

Being Devil’s advocate Here:

The clubs which consistently push to stay in touch with the opposition and make an exciting spectacle of their games, even when they lose, get something out of it. Sheffield was a good side last season and run a lot of sides very close. They earned themselves a play-off place against Fev, which they may not have achieved without the bonus point. I can’t say that they didn’t deserve to be there.

If you’re a crap side you probably won’t get a bonus point anyway.

My problem is that, even though I find the system hard to accept, I would accept it if it was introduced throughout the game after a short period trialed in the Championship. One rule for one part of the same sport and a different rule for another is totally unacceptable imo. It’s either deemed to have succeeded or failed. If it has succeeded, then it should be introduced into SL. If they don’t want it then it should be scrapped. I don’t have a problem with keeping it, but RL is supposed to be the same sport, which should be run under the same rules.

If not, then why?

If it has, and they have rejected it, why is it still being run in the Championship?

I’d love to know the answer to some of these questions. But we seem to be treated with complete disdain in the lower leagues. It seems our opinions and wishes are not important to the RFL.

Unlikely, as they’d probably just think we’re making a Mountain out of a molehill, and the conversation would go down hill faster than a Nantucket Sleighride.

Get rid of it. It's ridiculous. I hate the bonus point sysytem and i hate having byes in this league. The RFL have probably forgotten they exist in this league. They're too busy trying to fathom out where best to have the Magic Weekend. May i suggest Wood & Lewis try a fact finding mission in the Hellmand Province?

Losing by a single point is not as emotionally crushing as it used to be, is it?
