No it was another one I think in the eighties, maybe early nineties which only some clubs used not all like RL.

I would guess that this programme intiative by the RFL has been a godsend to the club. I have said before that for the amount of work which goes into producing a programme, the benefits arent rewarding enough. I did the Town one for 3-4 years and no matter how much you improve the content, the sales dont really reflect the improvement and it continued to just about break-even over the course of the season.

Or you could always get down there 5 minutes earlier if you keep missing out on them . . .

or maybe fax could sell them online too, to guarantee getting one.

Then someone else misses out, thus not solving the problem.

As has been mentioned, we at Leigh are still doing our own programme.(about 52/56 pages) I've been trying to find out how much we are making (or losing) on it, but Leigh, being Leigh, appears to be covered by the Official Secrets Act! (hey, why should I know, I'm only the editor!)

I think most clubs were/are losing on their own programme, but we see it as an important vehicle for getting news out to the fans - at least those few who attend. Another factor in Clubs' minds, is probably the time element. I would estimate that it's taking about 3-4 man-days' effort per week, (not per game) to produce - in addition to the efforts of outside contributors. (i.e. the press - and 'Brew' when you come to ours!)

Naturally, two of us are doing this for nowt - I even have to buy the flaming thing! But the alternative of paying someone, would make it totally untenable.

We are proud of our efforts - of course, I would say that - but we feel that it's the only quality item Leigh is producuing at the moment! Let us know what you think, when you visit the LSV - if they can ever find a date!

Personally, I'm not keen on 'Game On', as it regurgitates much of the news from the weekly 'trade press'. However, I also feel that any publicity for the Championship, is better than none at all, so I welcome it. Your compromise of including a few pages of 'Fax info. fascinates me, and I'm looking forward to buying one, when we come to your place.

That reminds me of a million years ago, I'd just started a business and finance course at Calderdale College and who should walk into the class but a then newly injured John Schuster, i said "alright Schuey, ows the knee", he looked at me with a bemused look and said "erm, I'm sorry, I can't understand you". The Fax Trust are more than happy to oblige as it is another area we can all help the club.But please do try to buy one ,if any of youhave thought about it but not yet bought one give it a try this week.I don`t know about everyone else but I am prepared to go the extra mile this year as I want the team to keep improving and I want this feel good factor to carry on.So if you can afford anything like buy a programme ,purchase things from the shop, attend dinners and most important get someone new down to a game which is really no cost to you please do so..It all adds up,we are stuck in this League for at least another 2 seasons after this so lets make sure we`re the best there is , and all do our bit however small. I think all Fax fans deserve a pat on the back for sticking with the team through some pretty tough years, so now it`s "pay back time" lets beat Cas in the Cup match
