I admit that i have not really been impressed with Handforth but i think he has come good at the back end of the season. That may be because I had very high expectations.
What do you mean anti tiger chants?'"
Spot on, I am one of those who has not been impressed by both our half backs and still feel we need a good one for next season if we are to push Fev off their perch at the top.
But Tiger has won us lots of games this season and is a trier, its Thacks that is the bigger disappointment but then you look at how many tries he has scored!

| Again Handforth was the difference, creating 4 of the 5 tries. Thackeray really has come on in my opinion, the only thing lacking is that is a touch of creativity. General play kicking, distribution, tackling. You couldn't fault his energy or desire last night, absolutely fantastic if you ask me!

| Tiger has come on a lot in the past month or so. im Ok with his form, his long passes are good, hes our best kicker, its time to back him for the rest of the season, hes not the fastest but he reads the game well and come the big games he comes up with big plays. Like him or not, maybe his best days are behind him but hes doing a job for us.

| It's pretty clear that a lot more people than you'd be led to believe actually see what handforth brings to the team.
Harrison signed him because he knew better than anyone what he is all about. He was never going to be the fast, crowd pleasing, side stepping half back that black was. A lot of the abuse he cops is unjust and a little naive.
His defence is solid, he is our best kicker, best reader of the game and if you watch closely enough you'll see he is the guy in charge on the pitch. This is why Karl trusts him and brought him over.
It's worth mentioning that handforth has, even when being slated, won us a lot of close games, including keighley. Sheffield at home, with the chip and break for Thacks to score, switching to hooker when Penky went off against swinton I think when he ripped them apart, and basically ripping the ball away from Penky in the challenge cup with thirty seconds left, taking the penalty to ensure extra time, fair dos, we lost that one but he got us the draw and chance of extra time.
Plenty more examples, the problem handforth faces is not being the stand out crowd hero that many half backs are. He is a solid, reliable player, and maybe cops a little unfair treatment sometimes. I'd guess he's used to it tho and just takes it as part of the job.
All I know is we have at least one, and hopefully three big knock out matches left. I believe we have more chance of winning them with him than without him so that's enough of a reason for me to back the lad.

| I think a lot of the critcism directed at Handforth is as a result of the type of halfback we have become used to seeing in a Fax shirt over the last few years - Ben Black with his speed and elusiveness, Branighan with his off the cuff style, and Holroyd with his kicking and planned moves that Shad and co scored so many tries off.
Handforth is a stronger defender than the others - to use a quote from the Holroyd days - he takes the dinner jacket off, rolls his sleeves up and is not frightened to get stuck in.
I must admit, I have expected a bit more from him, but at the end of the day he has won us the last 2 games.

Absolutely spot on. He makes other players play to their potential. He did it time and again at Batley, and did exactly that against us last week. It was no surprise that against us, you suddenly looked organised when he came on. KH was always going to take Handforth to Halifax, because he appreciated his skills, as I did. I would still rate PH really highly amongst the bast half-backs in our division.

| The problem for me both for Thackray and Handforth is that when they are on fire they are unstoppable in this league but then when they are off they are very poor and we look clueless. I can understand why Rhino brought them and they both are not the players we have had in the past especially with Ben Black, Graham Holroyd and Branighan who would create something out of nothing and helped us to have the flair to score 40 points most games and score tries from anywhere. Whilst I am not a great fan of either Handforth and Thackray i am prepared to give them another season. They just need to be both far more consistant and maybe believe more in themselves than they do at times.

| he also won us Dewsbury away in the league, both his passes to i think Robba and Bowman for the victory.
He is quality and i'd rather have him playing for us than against us!
i just wish hed take on the line abit more - but this comes from confidence, and all his knockers on here and at the games whining if he passes to someone and they dont score cant be helping with that!
get behind the lad.

That's what I thought when I read his post, really can't see Keighley forking out to buy him, it annoys me when people try to stir like that.
I really rate Handforth and think a lot of what he does for the team goes un noticed, the only thing i think he needs to work on is his kicking game really.
