Where does he live?
Surely it's cheaper to get off the train at Halifax and walk the quarter mile to the Shay?

| its just a rumour, nothing more! I don't think he's consistent enough for SL, therefore he should stay at fax for another year or two and learn from the master himself (Mr Harrison)!!

| Well I think this is a shock if he goes because there is no way on hell going on this past Season he is SL material or even close to it. On his day he can be a very good forward with a good offload but he is liable to get caught up in the silly niggles and get distracted from his game-Sunday being a good example. I dont think we will miss him that much if he does decide to go but wish him all the best if he does go and hope he can sort his temper out.

YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE PAST BUT NOT RELIVE IT.YOU CAN HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BUT CAN NEVER BE SURE THERE WILL BE ONE.: |
|
| I too wish Sam well and I also will be surprised if he goes to a Super League club, obviously someone at Hull must see something in him but unless I`m mistaken I cannot see it working for the lad. As he lacks self discipline a coach with anything about him will no doubt be imposing discipline upon him which I would think would be too hard for Sam to take.
I wonder if it`s his agent biging him up trying to get a better deal ? Whichever club Hull or Fax it may be a bumpy road as if he stops here I can`t see Karl puting up with it either .

| Sam is without doubt a player with a great degree of talent who, if these rumours are true, is well worth a punt on for a SL club. If he's not up to scratch, then its nothing ventured nothing gained. Its sad that his on-field actions over the past couple of seasons have seen him develop a pantomime villain reputation amongst opposition supporters. I've had some brief dealings with him away from the rugby pitch and he's always struck me as a pleasant, talkative and genuinely good-natured lad.

Well said Jim, that is exactly what he is. I would personally like Sam to stay as i believe that Rhino will bring the best out of him. He has the potential to play for 10 years if he looks after himself and takes the best advice offered both on a personal and rugby level. I believe that Rhino is the man for his rugby and i know that he has fantastic support from both his parents who are lovely respectable people.

| I do wish some people on here would button it before putting down Sam Barlow.
He's a great lad. Always interviews well in the lounge after a game. Always willing to come into the lounge after a game (same can't be said for others).
He also won't be the first fiery forward to have ever pulled on the blue and white or stepped on to a rugby field will he? It's quite clear that the team has lacked discipline in many. Perhaps a coach with discipline will be just the thing Sam Barlow needs to get the very best out of him.
And if he does sign for Hull KR then good luck. Everyone playing the game of rugby league does not class playing for us as the pinnacle of their career!! Unless it has escaped your attention there is a thing called Super League where you can play the game professionally. A player with his abilities deserves a shot - it might be the making of him.
Semi rant over.....

I'm not sure he uses an agent Linda unless things have changed recently.
If Sam does leave Halifax, it has to be for another crack at full time SL rugby in better conditions for preparing for the game at the weekend. I've known him & his family a long long time and have always fot on with him, but the cross section of opinions on this thread alone alarms me.
I must mention a couple of things, there's the ever on-going arguements about Halifax not bothering with local talent, Sam fits the criteria.
The same arguements about players not representing our side with the correct passion required on a rugby field, Sam more than dispels that arguement, OK, he gets carried away, but has passion.
This lad took a serious decision last season with the dis-agreement with Tubbs over playing in the play-offs, that sholud tell everyone how much desire he has for Halifax RLFC, and one senior player at Halifax RLFC told me very recently that he's advised Sam to leave Halifax to further his own career & earning capacity, yet Sam still holds out to play one season more under Harrison for Halifax RLFC.
The lad just can't win, typical of Halifax RLFC supporters in recent times.

| Personally if its possible i would tell Sam to stay, i think a good season under Harrison would be more beneficial at his career stage than a season in and out of the 1st and getting only cameo sub appearances.
When you look at some of the guys in the Hull KR pack, Sam might be a useful squad player but hes not going to storm SL at present. A year or two learning his trade from one of the best (Rhino) will do himthe world of good.

We're a strange breed. Like all clubs we have a mixed bag. Some people think we're still a big club, some people can't survive without bagging the club and it's players, some people fawn over the club and players no matter what ( ) but most i am happy to say are fair minded and constructive. We're certainly more supportive than some message boards that's for sure. We also have one gem that no other message board has. We have Tony Fax. Legend.

| Just read that Sam's apparently been offered a deal with Salford and we're yet to talk to him. I, for one, hope we can keep him, I'm sure he can learn a lot from Harrison.

I would love to see Sam play at least a season under Karl Harrison.
Having spoken to Sam a few times at various functions over the last 18 months, he really is nothing like the schoolboy bully that some portray him as on here. He is a genuinely nice lad who cares greatly about and takes pride in playing for Halifax.
I would not blame him however if he left to Super League to maximise his earning potential because at the end of the day it is a short rugby career and players need/want to earn as much as they can during it. Retirement is only a serious injury away if they are really unlucky.
If he goes to SL - then good luck and all the best for the future Sam. If he stays - brilliant, listen to what Rhino teaches you, channel that natural aggression and passion and you won't go far wrong.
Some people on here need to realise the players that they are knocking and ripping to bits whilst hiding behind a monitor and keyboard are human beings with feelings too.
