We've become noted for slow starts in recent seasons and it's high time that changed. As for Doro not even being in the squad, surely it must be because of injury. I see him as a direct replacement for Gwaze and from what I have seen he should be in from the start. It will be a tight game whatever and let's see if we can get off to a flyer. Up The Fax!
If rawsthorne gets picked instead of maizen I’m sending my ticket back lol

I can't believe we've brought Rawsthorne back. Last time out he was so uninterested it was almost as though he thought he was too good to be in't championship. It smacks as a job's for the boys scenario. Let's hope when he gets his chance he proves the doubters wrong.

| Well we have our first win. A bit close for comfort. Our foal line defence let us down, Sheffield never looked like scoring from far out. It was or usual niglley match with them.
We certainly have speed on the left flank with Maizen and Walmsley the try was a belter.I thought the ref was no use at all the stuff he missed was amazing. See how we go against Fev next week but I think
Once we get going we will be hard to beat.

| Bit of a scratchy performance and we could have easily lost that one . Our defence in the middle of the park looked aggressive and on point but goal line defence looked poor . We looked like we were lacking fluidity in attack which is probably down to lack of preseason games . Tangata , salty , gee , inman all played well . See how fev go on tomorrow but we’ll have to up our game significantly to get anything over there . Maher only played 10 minutes could be injured.

| Fine line between success and failure, nothing much between teams today, but that last minute try sends majority of what was a very encouraging crowd home happy and hopefully keen to come back in a couple of weeks. Inman and Maizen very promising, still don't like/understand keeping Moore on when we bring on new hooker. Attack very clunky, JWH now though a really assured fullback defensively including dealing brilliantly with a succession of bombs. Clear now Doro's absence down to injury - hope King gets a game next week, as based on his performances for Whitehaven against us I think he'd bring something different to the pack. Not sure what happened with Maher today, maybe unfair to judge him on that.

The bloke's deluded, blaming the ref and his players. Nowt to do with Fax winning the grind. We can only improve on today and I for one am quite pleased with how it turned out. Up The Fax!

| After watching those interviews I’m glad Ashton and Farrell feel intimidated when they come. The know it won’t be and easy game. Anyway that one is in the bag so we can forget their petty moaning and blaming the ref (anybody know what the penalty count was for each team). Onto Fev.

| Good tough encounter as we expected with the result in the balance right up to the last play and I personally was much more nervous during the game than for a long time after all the emphasis in getting off to a good start in the build up.
Things to work on. From my seat we were a fair bit below last seasons standards in both goal line defence and attack with the ball not going to hands in the red zone on a few occasions but it was only the second fully competitive game in several months so that's understandable.
Little bit of indiscipline cost us in a number of their barge over tries with late tackle count penalties and incorrect play the ball on a simple exit set giving them the field position in the build up was both frustrating and unnecessary.
Positives.
We will improve week on week so to get the points when not at our best should bode well.
During the game there were some big shots in D in the middle and we looked fit and physical more than matching their pack when needed, our attack showed some real threat on the edge at times with some good quality tries in and among.
Delighted and relieved in equal amounts with the result, PHEW!!!

Me personally i like there to be a bit of rivalry between sides it makes for a better game. But he is completely blinded to anything the opposition do well in games. He gives us no credit what so ever for winning that game which makes him look bad.

| As for the game i thought for about the first 30 minutes we did most things pretty well. We was making good meters with the ball going through the middle and earning the right to go wide and both our defence and discipline was good and we took our try's well but the kicking game wasn't the best i would like to see louis and young ingham take some of the pressure off joe with the kicking game. 16 points up them down a man in the bin and i thought we would kick on from there and then we either started to feel the pace or we took our foot off the gas plus sheffield are a good side so they would always have there say in the match. We all of a sudden looked disjointed in attack with players getting in each others way and we lost a lot of go forward which put us under a fair bit of pressure. I was very worried at the end that we would lose so to get the interception and score the clinching try was a big relief. All in all happy to get the 2 points but we will need to go up a fair few gears if we are to win on sunday.

It would be interesting to see if he is like this on every (close) game they lose as it seems to be a common theme with Halifax. You can sense an almost hatred, in the way he cannot even bear to say our name – always say “them, they”. Seems have been this way since the Sam Barlow incident, what some 13 years ago now? If only he could be more balanced, lets face it decisions generally go both ways, there were some poor ones against us and some where I thought we got the rub. The knock on one by Welham did appear a bit fortunate for us, but I’d assumed Ref called him for playing the ball when he wasn’t tackled, be interesting to watch that one back.

| Doesnt appear to understand irony - Aston apologising for his team going off in a strop after losing without acknowledging their fans. This from a man who goes into a massive sulk every time his team lose , especially against Halifax - obviously his team take their lead from him.
