If it is East only then I will not be attending all home fixtures next season as I hate seated stadia. Never ever envisaged the club (even with trying to cut costs due to CC) would resort to been a one stand club sad really. Hope an agreement does come to still play at The Shay though as a move away would be suicidal support would be in the mid hundreds for lesser games icon_sad.gif

People need to E-mail the club direct to give their views. venting your anger and frustration on here is fine and why we have these forums but when its about our club disappearing the club need to hear it direct ( and constructive)

The club must not take a decision to move out of Halifax without some form of fans forum. It could be that some form of sponsorship of the rent could be arranged etc.

As a 'Fax fan 000's of miles away this is a sad story, I was at Thrum Hall for one of the last competitive games there, Wigan cup game ? , then the move to the shay felt alien, even though I went to watch town play there, Rugby never felt like home turf.

I have followed all threads on this forum, some with amusement some with down right horror and some very astute articles.

I am not sure if this would work and even if the other clubs would agree, Town to play at Natty lane ( if it's not a housing estate now, and 'Fax to Ovenden park (although I seem to have a feeling this has been mooted previously).

The blinkered council could then sell the shay to housing or retail as has been their long held ambition.

One further point on this forum, a few weeks ago rumours of a 'money man' to save 'Fax was doing the rounds, any more word on that ?
Finally and not to be classed as a nerd do well, in Marshall we trusted, hope to holy moly he gets it right next time, if there is one!

I am neither angry or frustrated, saddened and subdued is nearer the mark.

I believe for the club to be even considering a move away from Halifax shows how seriously and perhaps desperately they are looking at cutting costs or just as bad some badly thought out game of bluff.

The courier article says in part regarding Fax. Quote: "Privately, Fax officials recognise the inherent danger to the club’s long term future of moving but say it is the only financially viable solution unless a compromise can be reached".

That would indicate if we stay as we are (short term option) were doomed and if we go (longer term option) there's an inherent danger (were doomed) in moving.

The most constructive thing I can think of based on what has been said is a reduced use of the stadium with enough of a saving if that is an option and I think that the decision will be very soon.

To be honest im bored of Town fans making Fax feel as welcome as an unclaimed rucksack on an international flight, and im bored of Calderdale Councils backslapping for delivering a dated stand over budget and late and having gone through numerous project revisions and project managers.

Fax will go on, with one stand or a few more Fax on the road games, and if that means booking the Shay when we can actually come close to needing more than one stand, with all the Hi-viz, walked talkie, once i was a bouncer or i used to lick windows brigade, then so be it.

I'd rather Fax concentrated on The Rugby playing finances, as opposed to making someone's Graph in the Council finance department look splendid on a dashboard.

Lets see the FC hand here if Faxs meeting went south, are they going to stand together, stronger, or go it alone. Either way what will be will be, life will go on, and kids will continue to drift to SL and Premier league rather than watch their own towns teams.

Calderdale Council, Fax and the Shaymen all want their heads knocking together.

Mr. T Hall, thank you for your observation on my post, however will you please expand on the 'silly suggestion' was it the remark about Ovenden Park? Would you prefer them to play on Bird Cage Lane at the Old Crosslians? Or what about Warley town where the Vandals play? Or was it about a money man waiting to ride up on his charger and save the'Fax from ignominity?

Reading your posts you seem a reasonable man, not like some other posters who just rant incoherent drivel, so let's have a sensible reply.

I may well be wrong, however I have a nagging memory that Ovenden Park was suggested as a ground share some 20 years ago when Thrum Hall was in its death throws, please feel free to correct me .

IT is indeed an excellent post.

Just a thought, some of us have been critical of the board for their perseived reluctance to share info, but, as we now know the meeting yesterday could hardly have been broadcast prior to it taking place.
I have always thought we have an excellent board (despite me saying the other day we need more information" and I trust them to do the right thing for Halifax RLFC.

Misguided blind faith i'm afraid John, this board has a lot to answer for and took us to the brink of obscurity this week.it's not over yet as there is real dismay with certain councillers and it appears to be entirely of our own making.

i watched this thread rumble on and see some silly statements being made - if the Councillors are reacting with dismay they should find out why the Chief Exec of the council is being involved in a simple tenancy disagreement - it certainly doesn't appear to be all of our own making from what I have read and heard.

A simple tenancy agreement..really.. the enormity of Fax leaving Halifax is not lost on me or the council.
